Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Software Developer IV is responsible for collaborating with management, departments, and customers to identify end user requirements and specifications. They will provide support to USSOUTHCOM in the development of custom applications through system engineering, software development and expertise in AI/ML integration, and best business processes across all disciplines of Knowledge Management in support of their organizational mission. The Software Developer IV supervises and mentors subordinate project and ICON Innovation Collaborative (IIC) staff. They engage and work with other Software Developer IVs.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Design algorithms and flowcharts to create new software programs and systems and produce efficient and elegant code based on requirements
  • Test and deploy programs and applications, and troubleshoot, debug, maintain, and improve existing software
  • Compile and assess user feedback to improve software performance
  • Observe user feedback to recommend improvements to existing software products
  • Develop technical documentation to guide future software development projects
  • Develop custom applications, provide expertise in ADVANA (Advancing Analytics Support National Defense Strategy), securely house and protect enterprise data, and tailor and adapt the development of analytical tools across DOD Platforms.
  • Experience with WebLogic, JBOSS, Mule, Spring, Oracle, NASA WorldWind, Protogate, IBM MQ, JMS, VMWare, Linux, Web Page and services development, Hp Openview, MicroFocus Business Value Dashboard, Eclipse/IntelliJ/Visual Studio IDEs, JUnit is a plus.
  • Experience with Agile Development methodologies and the Atlassian Suite (BitBucket, Git, JIRA, etc.)
  • Experience in Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration Environments.   
  • Support Agile team(s) in development and implementation, high-level design, integration, and verification of software components
  • Attend and participate in standard Agile ritual meetings (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives), as well as periodic Large Scale Agile Planning events
  • Desired Experience: Angular, Docker, Kubernetes, Containerization, Cloud computing, WorldWind, Cesium; API, cloud security processes and schema optimization; Development experience with Java, J2EE, C, C++, Fortran

Clearance level – TS/SCI REQUIRED

 EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an IT-related discipline or equivalent experience required
  • 12 years of position-specific relevant experience 
  • DoD 8570 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) is required – or ability to obtain within 6 months
