The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is searching for a Digital Fundraising Associate to implement CSPI’s digital fundraising program on email and other digital channels to grow, retain, and reactivate online donors who support CSPI’s mission and vision.
CSPI’s office is in Washington, DC, where we offer a hybrid work environment, but many of our staff work remotely at locations across the US. We will consider DC-based or remote applicants within the US.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implements a robust email fundraising program:
* In consultation with Director of Digital Strategy, implement robust email fundraising program to acquire, renew, and retain donors through online cultivation, re-engagement, and sustainer campaigns.
* Drafts, manages content approvals, optimizes, and deploys compelling fundraising appeals, campaigns, and automations for low-dollar and midlevel programs that increase donor conversions over time.
* Makes strategic, data-driven decisions to segment audiences based on engagement, interest, and other attributes.
* Assists with email list health and growth, including email deliverability best practices.
- Supports, tests, and optimizes digital fundraising initiatives across digital channels such as web, paid media, and SMS. Stays abreast of best practices.
* Contributes new testing ideas and creative messaging angles, and implements tactics to drive more conversions in collaboration with digital team and vendors.
* Optimizes lightboxes and donation offers on cspinet.org.
* Builds, maintains and optimizes donation forms and related assets for email and other related digital fundraising initiatives.
* Provide thorough quality assurance testing on emails, donation forms, web pages, and other work products.
- Analyzes digital fundraising efforts. Regularly monitors and analyzes the digital fundraising emails and overall efforts to draw conclusions, spot trends, and improve performance, communicating results to the team and making recommendations for future optimization.
- Collaborates across teams for online engagement opportunities, campaign alignment, and integration, including but not limited to other fundraising channels, communication plans, and major and mid-level giving.
- Supports digital team with other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of professional digital fundraising or marketing experience with a focus on executing email marketing campaigns.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills. Experience with writing compelling fundraising copy is a plus.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills to analyze data and understand its relationship to the overall fundraising objectives and ability to provide a written assessment.
- Excellent communicator, storyteller, problem solver, and creative and strategic thinker, able to keep track of many moving parts with competing deadlines.
- Attention to detail and a highly organized, and process-focused aptitude.
- Ability to leverage insights through data analytics (assessment, analysis, and reporting).
- Ability to work across teams and with partners in a positive, inclusive, collaborative, and strategic organizational culture.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications and comfort using digital tools including building and maintaining forms, surveys, and other user engagement features. Experience with CRM donor database platforms and reporting features. Experience with Every Action is a plus.
- Willingness to participate in CSPI’s efforts to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

COVID Policies
As a public health organization, CSPI makes efforts to maintain a safe workplace for employees and visitors. We require all employees to be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines as soon as they are eligible, and the vaccine is available to them. Proof of vaccination is required during the onboarding process.
Compensation
The salary range is $58,000 to $70,000, based on experience. The actual salary offered will take into consideration many factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills and experience, internal pay equity, and business needs. CSPI offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes: 3 weeks of annual vacation leave; additional paid holiday leave between December 24 and January 1; 8 weeks of paid parental leave; excellent medical and dental insurance with CSPI paying a significant portion of employee and dependent premiums; and a 3% employer match contribution to the retirement plan after six months of service. We also offer ½ day Fridays, which means full-time staff work 36 hours per week.
