Job description

 

The Platform Engineer (PE) role is to be part of a team that provides technical support for cloud technologies including Entra ID, Microsoft M365, Intune, Exchange, SharePoint, Windows endpoints and related SaaS applications. As a PE you will provide backup support for AWS services as well as on-premises MS servers, keeping security standards as a top priority for 600 internal employees. You will be part of a team that designs, implements, and maintains solutions, and work with other engineers and help desk staff to triage and resolve operational issues. You will be a key member of the technology transformation team and participate in the discovery and implementation of new tools and solutions. This position is a full-time role with occasional travel. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical support for a hybrid Microsoft Azure environment supporting on-premises and geographically dispersed remote staff
  • Manage the enterprise Entra ID tenant including deployment of new and troubleshooting existing Single-Sign-On application integrations
  • Use Active Directory, GPO, Powershell, SCCM and related tools to support, update and maintain physical and virtual (hosted and on premise) Desktops and Servers.
  • Participate in the migration of on-premise servers and services into the cloud
  • Build automation to deploy and manage desktop applications including MS Office, Anti-Malware, Slack and Zoom in a group based and automated fashion
  • Stay up to date on current technology and security events, 
  • Participate in the design of the company overall security posture including remote user management, compliance, reporting and process improvement
  • Document all systems components, track changes and keep documents up to date 
  • Run diagnostics, produce reports, update and/or route trouble tickets to the appropriate team to resolve complex network access and performance challenges down to root cause
  • Respond to queries either in writing or over the phone
  • Follow up with customers to ensure issue has been resolved
  • Gain feedback from customers about computer usage
  • Mentor junior staff on technology and best practices

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work or educational experience required. MCSE or similar Microsoft certification a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience hands-on Microsoft Application products configuration and troubleshooting Servers and Endpoints in a 3 tier web application environment.
  • Strong understanding of systems technology including GPO, Roaming Profiles, DNS, RDP, LDAP, authentication systems, performance and availability monitoring and alerting. 
  • Experience managing Entra, M365 and related technology as an administrator. Must understand the technical challenges of securing cloud services.
  • Understanding of Identify Management technologies such as SAML, LDAP and AD/SSO Integrations.
  • Experience working in a Windows / Apple mixed user environment.
  • Basic understanding of network functions including TCP/IP, DHCP, routers, switches, ACLs, load balancers, firewalls, WiFi, high availability, VLAN Segmentation and permissions to help support Application Engineers
  • Security minded approach to technology to protect users and the organization as a top priority. Security+ or similar certification a plus. Experience with automation in patch management and hardening methodologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills including the use of standard and specialized tools including performance monitoring.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to closely work with and communicate clearly to supervisors, executive staff, end users, peers and vendors
  • High level of attention to detail with strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Excellent communication, customer support and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work under desks as required.
  • Occasional U.S. based travel is required.
  • High ethical standards and willingness to learn and teach. 

COMPENSATION:

  • Annual Salary Range*: $76,875 - $102,000 per year
  • Actual compensation may vary from posting based on work experience, education and/or skill level.
