Responsibilities:

Provides training on a tri-campus basis to designated respiratory therapists for assistance to physicians and assists physicians in the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary procedures. Serves as a technical resource for the respiratory therapists regarding assistance with such procedures. Works with pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  1. Has tri-campus responsibility to train designated respiratory therapists to assist physicians and assists physicians with all pulmonary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.   Observes and evaluates respiratory therapists' performance in such.
  2. Maintains competencies as a respiratory therapist and performs duties of a respiratory therapist as requested.
  3. Provides in-service education to staff on a tricampus basis regarding diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary procedures performed in operative and procedural areas.
  4. Maintains inventory of bronchoscopic supplies and accessories.
  5. Trains designated respiratory therapists to assist and assists surgeons in the operating room setting with such procedures as transbronchial needle aspirations, argon plasma coagulation, tumor debridement, and pulmonary dilatation.
  6. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.  Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to manager and completes incident reports.
  7. Has tri-campus responsibility for providing assistance or assisting with interventional therapeutic pulmonary procedures.
Qualifications:

REQUIRED:


1. Successful completion of an accredited program in respiratory therapy, cardiovascular or related.

2. One of the following: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) OR Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) OR Registered Cardio- Pulmonary Technologist (RCPT). 3. 2 years' experience in pulmonary. Strong experience with bronchoscopy procedures.

4. Must be currently practicing in the field of Respiratory Therapy.

5. BCLS certified.

6. Validate State License
