Job Description:

The Occupational Accident Profit Center is part of the Specialty Business Unit (SBU) within A&H and writes the following lines of business: Occupational Accident, Contingent Liability and Employers Liability, Non-Trucking Liability, and Physical Damage for Independent Contractors with ancillary Workers’ Compensation for employees. The target markets are the trucking industry and the Gig Economy.

 

The Underwriting Assistant role will aid the underwriters with the responsibilities of underwriting, securing & retaining accounts, and the administrative tasks affiliated with the underwriting process. This role will provide the foundational elements to becoming a multiline Underwriter within Accident & Health.  Strong preference for candidate to be in the Glastonbury, CT area but will consider strong candidates in the tri-state area.

 

What you will do for C&F:

 

  • Assist underwriters daily in quoting and servicing accounts in an accurate and timely manner
  • Assist in the evaluation of renewals by collecting updated information, as directed by the Underwriter
  • Manage pre-qualification of submission documents to ensure adequate information is provided for evaluation
  • Perform account setup within C&F systems
  • Track new business and renewal accounts for timely delivery
  • Execute Proposal & Binder creation as well as revisions
  • Serve as a back-up to account management
  • Complete account reporting and performance metrics
  • Handle ad hoc requests from the underwriting team and Occupational Accident leadership
  • Abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F's risk management controls

  • High degree of organization to prioritize work and follow up on issues
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of equivalent work experience or completion of an internship preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools – Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $39,800.00 to a maximum of $74,700.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
