The Job
The Director of the Clinical Center of Excellence will work closely with senior leadership to define the clinical strategy for the SCAN Group. This includes development of clinical strategy across the health plan, as well as key initiatives within the Population Health portfolio, Health Care Services, Stars programs, Special Needs Plans and SNP care delivery, partner medical groups and SCAN portfolio companies. This role is highly cross functional and requires significant collaboration and partnerships.
You Will
- Lead a team to identify a pipeline of clinical opportunities which are aligned with SCAN’s mission to keep seniors healthy and independent using industry / market intelligence, health plan data, competitive intelligence, stakeholder feedback, cross-functional partner request, etc.
- Establish a process to prioritize and conduct strategic assessments, and read-out on these recommendations with partners and leaders to gain alignment.
- Establish a process to monitor program and portfolio performance to inform recommendations on individual live programs and Clinical Center of Excellence portfolio strategy.
- Lead planning with working partners including Data & Analytics, CXI, Corporate Strategy and other internal teams for Clinical Center of Excellence requests.
- Lead planning and coordination for the Clinical COE organization, including budgeting and multi-year strategic planning.
- Maintain portfolio alignment with SCAN Transformation, Corporate Development and Corporate Strategy teams.
- Establish a high-performing, highly engaged team that can flex across a variety healthcare domains effectively and with agility.
- Analyze market opportunity with a variety of inputs (data, comp analysis, market intel, consumer feedback, stakeholder feedback, etc.) to identify the specific opportunity in alignment with the Clinical Center of Excellence vision.
- Conduct capabilities assessments with infrastructure partners and operational owners.
- Develop and maintain business cases to show expected value and costs for a variety of businesses and models.
- Identify and analyze assumptions, business / clinical risks and headwinds against strategic proposals.
- Identify operational dependencies, costs, and functions needed to support strategic opportunities.
- Synthesize findings and make recommendations to senior executives, program designers, and operational leaders.
- Oversee budget development and ownership for Clinical organization.
- Be willing to travel to meet partners, engage with operations teams, and support team engagement.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Supervises/Manages Others (i.e. hires, performance reviews, corrective action, etc.)
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience developing business strategy in healthcare (prefer a diverse set of healthcare experiences with a focus on health plans) preferred.
- 1-2 years as business lead across a portfolio of programs
- Experience leading individuals and teams to effectively deliver against goals
- Experience influencing senior leaders against a clinical strategy
- Experience effectively leading and working cross functionally
- Strong industry knowledge and demonstration of success in high-demand, agile work environment.
- Deep understanding of Medicare Advantage plans, novel clinical models / strategy, emerging health tech, and clinical advancements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to analyze data and apply insights to strategy.
- Ability to develop highly polished content for senior executives which effectively communicates the Clinical COE strategy and recommendations.
- Ability to use multiple sources of information to inform well considered business / clinical recommendations.
