Summary

As a Transmission Engineer, you hold a pivotal role in utility and renewable energy ventures, driving technical excellence and fostering partnerships with stakeholders. Your expertise in Transmission design principles and optimization techniques propels our team's innovation towards sustainable energy solutions. The position is located in Eden Prairie, MN. Hybrid or remote location considered.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Create and assist in the preparation of designs, calculations, and drawings of equipment and structural designs for transmission line equipment.
  • Lead project specification research, determine applicable electrical codes, and ensure specific project requirements are addressed in design
  • Apply department and relevant standards to prepare calculations and drawings in accordance with project specifications
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to address transmission line related issues or concerns
  • Create detailed markups and coordinate with CAD drafters/designers to produce high quality, providing drafting support as needed.
  • Review shop/vendor drawings, respond to requests for information (RFIs), and assist clients with general construction support services.
  • Facilitate coordination with PV, substation, power studies, civil/structural, and other design disciplines
  • Review work for Quality Assurance and Quality Control and ensure compliance with EVS quality standards
  • Participate in and facilitate meetings with stakeholders and clients.
  • Train and mentor less experienced engineers in their technical and professional development.
  • Participate in regular internal and external project meetings with clients and other project stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience working as a Transmission Engineer for an engineering firm, Utility or EPC
  • Professional Engineer Licensure is preferred
  • Proficiency with NESC, NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards that are applicable to transmission design
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE is required
  • Proficiency in PLS-CAISSON/MFAD/LPILE is preferred
  • Strong computer skills: proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Functional understanding of AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred
  • Passionate about the renewable energy business and project development
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Positive and professional attitude
