Position Summary

Cypress Resilience Project is a program at Public Health Institute that focuses on community-based trainings in Mental Health First Aid certification, trauma informed practices and grief recovery. Founded in 2019, the team provides trainings to varied partners including but not limited to: health professionals, educators, community-based organizations, corporate clients and public health agencies. Cypress is currently in a growth phase and looking to expand its services and team.

The Communications Assistant will conduct communications activities in support of Cypress’s mission, goals, and grant objectives.

This is a regular part-time, up to 0.25 FTE (up to 10 hours/week), position that is expected to work remotely. The Communications Assistant will be required to attend two recurring weekly Zoom meetings during Monday-Friday work week on Pacific Time, but other work will be project-based and may be completed at other times.

Full pay range for this position: $27.57 to $39.31 per hour. The typical hiring range for this position is from $27.57 (minimum) to $33.44 (midpoint) per hour. The starting wage is determined based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Implements key elements of digital communications under the supervision of Cypress’ Deputy Director, including:
    • Writes content for and manages production of monthly e-newsletter using myEmma
    • Creates and posts social media content in alignment with Cypress’ marketing and communications strategy
    • content of the Cypress website using Wix
    • Manages Cypress videos, including some basic editing and uploads to YouTube
  • Monitors and tracks Cypress social media and website analytics, making recommendations to the team based on data
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • One year of work experience in communications, including e-newsletter production and website updates
  • Associate degree, or substitute with two additional years of related experience

Other Qualifications

  • Basic experience with graphic design, communication and website software, including Canva, InDesign, myEmma, and Wix
  • Extensive experience with various social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
  • Extensive experience with graphic design and communication software including Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and web-based communication platforms preferred
  • Front-end web design and development skills such as Wix
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make independent decisions following standard policies and procedures and to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, make simultaneous progress on multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Problem-Solving: ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; ability to develop alternative solutions
  • Ability to exercise initiative, be creative, and be resourceful
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with a focus on mutuality, transparency, kindness, and respect for all team members
  • Ability to serve diverse populations with respect and culturally responsive practices
  • Expressed commitment to building community resilience and skills that support people experiencing a mental health challenge, trauma and grief
  • Must be able to work during daytime business hours in the Pacific Time Zone when required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred
