Summary: As part of a mission centric, locally delivered and nationally powered organization, the Senior Science & Philanthropy Writer will play a crucial role in crafting compelling and impactful materials aimed at cultivating and stewarding relationships with our philanthropic donors. You will specialize in creating engaging content, particularly focusing on scientific narratives, to resonate with diverse audiences.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for writing successful, engaging and high-value cultivation and stewardship materials for a range of audiences, with a special emphasis on scientific content.
- With an emphasis on scientific content, write proposals, foundation grant applications, general program overviews and targeted collateral to support cultivation activities and solicitations, specializing in making scientific content accessible and engaging for a lay audience.
- With an emphasis on scientific content, write donor impact reports, one sheets, leadership speaking points, acknowledgement and other correspondence, and other donor-centered materials to support stewardship and relationship building activities with individual and foundation donors and prospects.
- Liaise and strategize with business partners across the enterprise on projects and programs and how to position our value proposition most advantageously to donors, particularly within our science research programs.
- Stay abreast of LLS activities and advances in our research and patient support programs, providing knowledge and expertise to field staff about the most current advances and how donors can partner in these initiatives.
- Field scientific/research questions from staff related to LLS-funded research as well as provide basic scientific guidance to help staff grasp complex concepts.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Science, or a related field. Post-graduate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in proposal writing, grant writing, or a related field, with an emphasis on writing for individual major donors.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Experience in the non-profit sector is preferred.
- Familiarity with scientific terminology and ability to translate complex scientific concepts for a general audience is a strong advantage.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Minimal weekend & evening work required dependent on projects overseeing

- Average salary range is $69,000 - $90,000, open to further discussion based on geography.
