This position will have specific emphasis placed on conducting remote and onsite testing for wind generation projects, solar generation projects, conventional generation projects, and energy storage projects in accordance with different ISO (ERCOT, PJM, etc.) and NERC requirements.

 

 

How you can make an impact:

  • Ability to perform remote and onsite commissioning and/or compliance testing for conventional and renewable generation projects.
  • Perform high level bulk power system studies using various power system software such as PSS/e, PSCAD, Aspen, and PSLF.
  • Conduct engineering studies for new and emerging technologies such as inverters, wind turbines, or Bulk Energy Storage Systems, which may require interaction with equipment vendors to complete the analyses.
  • Process, generate and maintain data as required.
  • Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
  • Identify training needs and present to the Engineering Manager as needed.
  • Work to continuously enhance existing procedures and workflows.
Qualifications:

Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:

  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering with power system emphasis.  Post-graduate Preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication: Ability to confidently communicate with clients and other relevant personnel (e.g., SCADA provider, OEM, etc.) while leading testing sessions.
  • Experience performing one or more of the following studies: Power Flow Studies, Transient Stability Studies, Dynamic Modeling, etc.
  • Onsite field testing experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with power plant controller operation, primary frequency response, automatic voltage regulation, and droop control preferred.
  • Experience with one or more of the following software tools: PSS/e, PSLF, DSATools (PSAT, TSAT, SSAT, VSAT), PSCAD, ETAP, ASPEN.
  • Perform complex tasks according to good engineering practice and EPE procedures.
  • Capable of autonomously and independently executing on assigned tasks.
  • Participate in multifunctional teams to obtain input, address comments and perform studies.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with respect to explaining technical matters.
  • Have high standards on producing quality reports and products.
  • Strong technical/report writing skills.
