About the Job

Thriveworks seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant who will assist in the preparation of financial reports, perform account reconciliation, be involved in the month-end close process, and perform other accounting duties as assigned. This candidate should possess solid communication, technology, organizational, and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Month-end close process, including preparing and posting journal entries.

  • Maintain and reconcile various schedules such as prepaid, accruals, deferred revenue, and leases.

  • Review and post daily cash journal entries and reconcile bank accounts monthly

  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts.

  • Prepare monthly financial analysis and reports as requested.

  • Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of business license and property tax returns to comply with state and local regulations

  • Provide suggestions and input on changes to improve the efficiency of various processes.

  • Assist with annual audit preparations.

  • Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.

  • Other projects as assigned.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of GAAP and tax laws

  • Proficient in Excel, including but not limited to pivot tables, xlookup, and advanced formulas

  • Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement, including dealing effectively with ambiguous and unstructured problems and situations. 

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Strong organizational and stress management skills.

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Familiarity with accounting software (Sage Intacct) preferred

Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required

  • CPA required or working toward CPA to be completed within 12 months of the date hired

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles

  • Experience working with multiple legal entities

  • Experience working with large sets of data 

  • Prior experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process is required. 

Experience (Strongly preferred)

  • Experience working with multiple legal entities

  • Experience working with large sets of data

  • Prior Healthcare experience is a plus

  • Public company experience is preferred
