Compensation Pay Range:
$155,625.00 - $191,164.00
The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation includes annual, quarterly performance, or premiums may be paid in amounts ranging per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Principal Engineer with deep expertise in VMware compute and storage technologies. In this role, you will be a key player in designing, implementing, and optimizing our virtualized environments. You will lead complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our infrastructure is robust, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.
Responsibilities:
-Lead the design and architecture of highly available and scalable VMware compute and storage solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices.
-Oversee the deployment, configuration, and management of VMware environments, including vSphere, vSAN, NSX, and related technologies.
-Continuously evaluate and optimize the performance, capacity, and reliability of compute and storage resources. Implement automation and orchestration to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
-Serve as a technical leader and mentor within the infrastructure team, providing guidance on best practices, troubleshooting complex issues, and driving innovation in VMware technologies.
-Work closely with other IT teams, including networking, security, and application development, to ensure seamless integration of VMware solutions with the broader IT ecosystem.
-Lead and participate in large-scale infrastructure projects, from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budgets, and alignment with strategic goals.
-Maintain comprehensive documentation of designs, configurations, and operational procedures. Develop and deliver training materials for team members and stakeholders.
-Ensure that all VMware compute and storage systems adhere to security policies, compliance requirements, and industry standards.
Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
-10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure with a focus on VMware technologies
-Extensive hands-on experience with VMware, vSphere, vSan, NSX and related tools.
-Proven track record in designing and implementing complex network architectures.
-Strong understanding of storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and software-defined storage
-Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
-Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
-Ability to effectively multitask
-Ability to write advanced technical documentation
-Must work well in a team environment
-Ability to learn independently
-Willingness to work flexible schedule including nights/weekends

- Proficiency in automation and scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Ansible.

- Deep knowledge of networking concepts, including VLANs, routing, and firewalls.
- Certifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX)
