Job Description:
Berklee College of Music is seeking a Manager of Marketing Technology and Data Operations to join our Communications & Marketing team. The ideal candidate will be a highly communicative, technically savvy, detail-oriented, and analytical digital operations specialist passionate about leveraging marketing, data, and technology to deliver customer value and drive results.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing Operations & Technology, this role will oversee the use of marketing technology, including Salesforce Marketing Cloud, to execute campaigns, capture data, analyze business processes, and improve the customer experience. The Manager will also be instrumental in strategy development, implementation, and optimization of Berklee's marketing technology stack to drive marketing effectiveness and efficiency.
As the Manager of Marketing Technology and Data Operations, you will collaborate with marketers, strategists, technologists, and vendors to evaluate needs and enhance our marketing technology ecosystem. You will act as a translator between stakeholder groups, defining business problems, translating them into technical needs, and facilitating the understanding of data as an enabler in solving business problems. Additionally, you will partner with the Analytics team to ensure the quality capture and analysis of data to evaluate marketing performance and ROI.
This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to strategize and execute campaigns, and a deep understanding of the marketing technology landscape. Experience within higher education, the music industry, and/or a B2C-oriented environment is preferable.
Day-to-Day Management of Marketing Technology Stack:
Manage and optimize marketing technology platforms, including CRM, marketing automation, analytics, and data management tools, ensuring database management, system performance, and database health.
Serve as Salesforce Marketing Cloud admin and as super-user/product evangelist for digital marketing tools in the stack, leading enablement and driving adoption across teams
Collaborate with Marketing Operations team members, stakeholders, and developers to create optimized business processes and innovate new technical capabilities
Produce key process and architecture documentation to facilitate governance, prioritization, and investment decisions
Manage communication subscription preferences, deliverability, governance and compliance. Provide subject matter expertise on email marketing operations, best practices and regulations including CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and online privacy.
Serve as primary liaison between Marketing and ITS, consolidating and prioritizing IT requests originating from the Marketing department. Work as the project manager to oversee and coordinate with vendors and the ITS department on database integrations, upgrades, and redesigns, and ensure content and functionality updates are deployed accurately.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and execute targeted marketing campaigns that drive student enrollment and engagement.
Data Management and Governance:
Oversee, monitor, and enhance accurate capture and seamless flow of marketing data within and between platforms. Lead integration of data from multiple sources to create a unified view of the customer journey and enable data-driven decision-making.
Develop and implement best practices for data collection, integrity, governance, privacy, and security following industry standards and regulations
Collaborate with Marketing Analytics team to ensure marketing data is optimized and deliver marketing and pipeline reporting, dashboards, and analysis on campaign performance, conversions, and attribution.
Strategic Planning and Leadership:
Help develop and manage marketing technology roadmap, identifying areas for technology/automation and process improvements.
Contribute to the research, selection, and implementation of new technologies. Evaluate business impact and lead change management.
Champion customer advocacy initiatives within the Martech landscape, ensuring that customer-centric perspectives are integral to platform strategies and implementations
Stay current with emerging technology trends and industry best practices and influence others in seeking best-in-class solutions to resolve business challenges
Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of marketing technology and data operations professionals.
Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of experience in marketing operations and/or marketing technology, executing and/or leading digital marketing programs, with a strong focus on campaign management, personalization, customer journey orchestration, data management, systems integrations and digital analytics. At least 5 years of hands-on work creating, optimizing, and managing complex processes and workflows; designing and implementing platforms and solutions; and partnering with both business and IT stakeholders
Proficiency in marketing technology solutions such as CRM (e.g., Salesforce), marketing automation (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud), forms (e.g. FormAssembly), chatbot, sms/messaging, event technology, analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, Tableau, Excel), CDP, website, and others. Marketing Cloud Admin certification is preferred. Technical skills in SQL/SOQL, Ampscript, HTML, CSS
Expertise in email campaign procedures; spam/email blockers, deliverability testing, and troubleshooting tools; and knowledge of compliance regulations, such as CAN-SPAM and GDPR
Experience with marketing attribution and campaign performance analytics. Proven ability to gather, monitor, and analyze large amounts of information and synthesize into concise and meaningful actionable reports and recommendations.
Experience creating process diagrams with LucidChart or other flow diagramming programs
Experience in project management and project tracking. Familiarity with agile methodologies is a plus. Extremely organized individual who is capable of self-managing and multi-tasking in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities, projects, and resources with great efficiency and attention to detail
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent work experience
Strong analytical and critical thinker who can identify gaps, research solutions, make decisions, implement plans, and assess performance. Ability to quickly synthesize ideas and concepts as well as understand and anticipate dependencies across complex systems.
Creative, open-minded, and enthusiastic about seeking new solutions to challenges. Self-motivated and highly autonomous, with an entrepreneurial mindset.

Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing/emerging business priorities
Preference for prior higher education or nonprofit experience. A keen understanding of today’s higher education environment and best practices to attract and retain students across the first-time, transfer, and graduate spectrum
