The Applications Development Scientist – Biotech & Pharma holds a pivotal role, leveraging advanced technical expertise to develop novel applications tailored to the unique demands of the life sciences industry. The outcomes of their work are integral to our growth strategy within this sector.
Supporting customers at our partner site and enabling their success, Designing and conducting experiments using ZEISS imaging solutions, either independently or through collaboration with customers, and Effectively communicating findings to drive impact with the target audience.
Work with business development managers to generate applications notes and other customer facing marketing content.
Customer training activities include resolving implementation problems and conducting user training. Develop and deliver training to educate customers on the features of the product or service they have purchased. Respond to very complex customer questions and troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve technical problems that arise during or after implementation. Lead trainings for internal sales and service professionals.
At all times, conduct in accordance with company guidelines and standards is expected. Must embody the ZEISS values at all times.
Do you qualify?
Masters or higher in Cancer Biology/ other Biological Sciences, preferably from an accredited college or university
3+ years of working knowledge is on high-end microscopy. Experience may include widefield, automation microscopy, laser scanning microscopy, and advanced imaging techniques such as automated time lapse with Z-stack, etc.
Working knowledge of or prior work experience overseeing a shared instrumentation (Core) lab or experience of working with multi-faceted groups in the industry
Sample preparation skills like cell culture, transfection, organoid culture and tissue staining is valuable Spatial biology experience is advantageous.
Strong knowledge of ZEISS software solutions such as ZEN Software, Intellesis, Connect, arivis etc. are advantageous
Knowledge of microscopy workflow solutions including image analysis, data visualization and coding skills is a plus
Solution oriented problem solver with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Implementation of MS Office, related software and strong presentation skills is required
Positive “can do” attitude coupled with a willingness to continuously acquire product and application knowledge independently
To excel in this position, you must possess the following attributes:
Excellent communications & time management skills, along with the ability to learn quickly and thrive in a highly collaborative environment, A deep understanding of at least one of the key areas within life sciences, such as cell biology, oncology, immunology, metabolic disorders, or neuroscience, and Previous hands-on experience with light microscopy sample preparation, operation and image analysis. Ideally with expertise in high throughput scanners, high content screening or confocal and associated image analysis.

The annual pay range for this position is $112,000 – $140,000
The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.
This position is also eligible for a performance bonus or sales commissions. ZEISS also offers robust benefits, including medical plans, retirement savings plan and paid time off.
