Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:   This position supports the startup and commissioning of a NuScale VOYGR plant. Responsible for integrating operational principles into the development, design, and evaluation of the plant design that facilitate the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of operations, maintenance, tests, inspections, and surveillance tasks.  Applies comprehensive level knowledge of operational engineering principles, techniques, and practices and has broad knowledge of a wide range of applicable industry standards, codes, and regulations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Has broad engineering experience in multiple areas or depth and expertise of nuclear power plant operational principles, techniques, and practices to support Design Certification Application (DCA), Combined Operating License Application (COLA), and construction/commissioning integration strategy. This includes the following areas: Concept of operations, Startup and Commissioning, ITAAC, Work Planning and Control, and Operational design reviews.
  2. Able to effectively influence decision making within the Operations and Plant Services organization.
  3. Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity and innovation.
  4. Exercises judgment within broadly defined policies and practices using professional principles and company objectives to resolve complex issues.
  5. Plans, organizes, and performs innovative and complex operations engineering assignments on a team dedicated to the development of an operations engineering project.
  6. Able to manage large projects and complete tasks with minimal oversight from leadership. Acts independently to determine or develop methods and procedures on new or special assignments, informs strategic conversations, and leads tactical ones.
  7. Interacts with management and other organizations on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines. Presents technical information concerning NuScale projects to the NRC and other stakeholders on behalf of NuScale.
  8. Mentors and trains others in sound approaches and standards for solving problems in technical areas of expertise.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned

  • Quality Assurance: Commits to the understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.

 

 

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Education: Minimum of a B.S. degree in a technical field is preferred, and NRC issued SRO license is highly desirable.
  • Experience: A minimum of 15 years of commercial nuclear power plant is required. In-depth understanding of nuclear concepts, principles, and theories including nuclear power plant operations and maintenance, and startup and commissioning is required.  Experience in startup and commissioning of an Advanced Nuclear power plant is highly desirable.
  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Pay and Benefits: 

The target pay range for this position is $144,055 - $173,859 annually.  The full pay range is $129,152 - $202,008.
