Job description

Nnamdi Ugwu, CEO of Black Girl Vitamins, leads a wellness brand dedicated to supporting Black women's health with tailored supplements. Black Girl Vitamins focuses on creating effective products, building a trusted community around health empowerment, and is committed to innovation and quality, continuously developing products that address the unique health needs of Black women.

Were looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Virtual Assistant to support a growing, diverse team in alignment with our core values of:

The ideal candidate will support various operational tasks and work well with a hands-on leader, staying focused on both immediate needs and long-term goals in a fast-paced environment. The assistant should feel comfortable and enthusiastic about supporting a brand centered on Black women's health and unique needs.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Handling day-to-day administrative tasks (filling out forms, scheduling meetings, etc.)
  • Gathering and managing documents for compliance, including compliance information for registered agents
  • Assisting with planning and logistics for office events and photoshoots
  • Managing accounts receivable and prioritizing bill payments
  • Renewing business insurance and handling other compliance-related tasks
  • Resolving general administrative issues
  • Overseeing document management and organization
  • Supporting the CEO with projects and helping keep him organized and on track

In addition to the above, the ideal candidate must be/have:

  • Excellent writing skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a creative approach
  • Detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in tasks
  • Organized and able to manage information effectively
  • An independent self-starter who can take initiative without requiring detailed oversight
  • Flexible and adaptable to the fast pace and evolving needs of a growing business
  • Skilled at managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively under pressure
  • Empathetic and supportive, with strong interpersonal skills
  • Tech-savvy and quick to learn new tools and software
  • Able to meet high standards while also benefiting from a flexible approach
  • Knowledgeable about or comfortable with African-American women's interests and preferences (ideal but not required)

Experience with the following tools is a plus!

  • Google Workspace
  • Slack
  • Asana

Position Details

  • This is a 1099 remote contractor position
  • Benefits include sick time, paid holidays and bonus pay
  • The position will be 30-40 hours per week
  • Hours are Monday to Friday between 8:00 am 5:00 pm CT
  • One weekend day per month (approx. 2-3 hours) will be required
  • The pay rate is $25/hour USD
  • We're looking for someone to become a long-term (3+ years) team member
