Description
The Chief Academic Officer/EVP of Curriculum will lead the academic vision and content development for Wateford.org, leading the creation of high-quality educational content that drives measurable impact. This role involves spearheading efficacy research to assess and improve educational outcomes continuously. This leader will excel in data storytelling, using data insights to communicate the impact of programs and research findings in a compelling, accessible way. Additionally, this position will work closely with the Product team to ensure that all product updates align with the academic vision and are built to improve impact and achieve measurable key educational outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the org-wide strategy and solution delivery align with our academic approach, effective practices, national learning standards, educational technology market needs, and evidence-based outcomes.
- Work with various teams to ensure messaging aligns with the organization’s academic impact mission by preparing children for ideal learning outcomes.
- Act as the academic spokesperson and influential leader in professional gatherings, public policy forums, and company-wide meetings. Craft public debate and awareness of early childhood education needs.
- Envision and implement innovative, creative, and effective ways to use technology-enabled solutions to provide compelling learning experiences for children and families.
- Drive effective academic outcomes for partners and improve the organization’s visibility in early childhood education.
- Lead all aspects of the research team's conduct of efficacy research, develop the efficacy roadmap, and identify data-informed improvements.
- Oversee the Curriculum and Content teams to build learning activities, resources, and professional learning offerings that drive educational outcomes.
- Ensure Waterford products align with national and state education standards.
- Support the VP of Product in roadmap planning, focusing on academic efficiency while balancing market needs.
- Collaborate with Marketing to build and publish content that supports messaging and successful implementations.
- Collaborate with teams to meet grant/RFP expectations and develop supporting documentation.
- Serve as a liaison between teams to create and share solutions for states, districts, teachers, and parents.
- Monitor the annual Curriculum and Instruction department budget.
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate assigned personnel and mentor team leaders within this department and across the organization.

Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- 15+ years of educational experience with 5+ years of school experience
- Strong background in learning design, training/education, curriculum development, and/or instructional design
- Experience implementing curriculum and technology programs in schools
- Understanding of the educational technology market
- Exhibits ability to communicate and solve challenges with diverse stakeholders in education in various ways of presentation.
- Proven leadership in managing and working cross-functionally to build effective teams
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work with both technical and creative personalities
- Standout colleague willing to accept feedback and collaborate
- Willingness to travel for meetings and presentations
Preferred:
- Doctoral Degree in Education or related field
- 10+ years of school experience preferred
- Familiarity with Google Suite, OneDrive, and Excel
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
- Bilingual

Waterford.org team members are located across the United States and primarily work from home. We anticipate this full time, hourly position will pay $180,000 - $215,000 per year depending on the education, experience and skill level of the individual we hire. We also offer a phenomenal benefits package that includes fully paid primary premiums for health insurance, dental insurance, basic life insurance, and disability insurance.
