DCG is a specialized, evidence-based communications and research firm focused on supporting federal clients with strategic public relations, marketing, outreach, and research and analysis services. With more than 14 years of experience dedicated to delivering innovative solutions in support of federal government campaigns, our focus is to deliver comprehensive communications services through cutting-edge technologies that enrich the lives of Americans.

Why DCG? Our mission-driven work has covered critical topics like human trafficking awareness, mental health stigma reduction, suicide prevention, ending homelessness, veteran health, transportation safety, small business resources, public diplomacy, to name a few.  We believe smart communications has the power to change lives and this work is our passion.

Position Overview: As a Communications Specialist, you'll provide subject matter expertise on a combination of communications deliverables and project management tasks. The ideal candidate is someone who has strong attention to detail and is looking for an opportunity to roll up their sleeves, learn, and grow with the team. You'll be part of a talented team supporting public health campaigns and community-based suicide prevention strategies, with ongoing program evaluation and research to expand implementation of practices with the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) and other federal agencies. If you are seeking an impactful opportunity focused on improving mental healthcare for Veterans and suicide prevention, this is the role for you.

Location: Fully Remote; the selected candidate will work during DCG’s core Eastern Standard Time business hours.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as strategic advisor and consultant with the client, providing expert advice and guidance to help solve complex problems, achieve goals, and improve performance.

  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to define project objectives, requirements, and provide proactive solutions and recommendations.

  • Draft, edit, proofread, and advise on communications content and materials, ensuring that all writing products are professional, error-free, and follow brand guidelines.

  • Develop and manage project timelines and processes, ensuring all communications projects are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Provide regular project updates and performance reports to clients and stakeholders, highlighting key insights and recommendations for improvement.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, communications best practices, and platforms, and share knowledge with the team.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications and/or marketing, with a minimum of eight years of relevant professional experience supporting communications and marketing campaigns, preferably in an agency or federal contractor setting.
  • Skills:
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.

    • Excellent writing skills with experience developing and/or editing a variety of communication products, including but not limited to blog and social media posts, presentation materials, outreach toolkits, one-pagers, newsletter articles, and other traditional communications products.

    • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail, an eagerness to work in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to manage a diverse workload.

    • Ability to work on multiple projects and manage multiple deadlines.

    • Experience writing or editing communications products focused on sensitive topics is a plus.

    • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
