The Role
At Last Mile Health (LMH), we work to deploy a health worker within reach of everyone, everywhere. Do you have progressive experience in fundraising with a proven track record of successful portfolio management towards accomplishing revenue goals? If so then you may be our next Manager, Partnership and Development.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Partnerships, the Manager, Partnerships and Development will manage a portion of the philanthropic portfolio (including both new and existing partners), contributing to the aim of securing revenue for LMH’s FY24-28 Closing the Distance Strategic Plan. Specific financial targets for funding associated with this portfolio can vary depending on organizational annual budget, with a target of ensuring the majority of funding accrued is multi-year.
The Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of the development, segmentation, and active management of this portfolio, working closely with the Senior Director of Partnerships and Senior Leadership as needed. They should be extremely comfortable engaging potential partners and can confidently articulate LMH’s value proposition to align with donor interests.
The Manager, Partnerships and Development will be autonomous in prospecting, vetting, preparing for engagement, and engaging with new partners. In addition, this role will develop recommendations for prioritization of funding prospects, as well as associated cultivation strategies. The Manager, Partnerships and Development will lead and project manage due diligence and concept note/proposal development across teams as required. This role, rooted in the pursuit of better healthcare access for vulnerable communities, offers a unique opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of many.
This role is open to candidates either based in Accra, Ghana or the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. This position is only open to candidates who do not require any paid sponsored or unsponsored work authorization in Ghana or the US. This role is fully remote in the US and hybrid in Ghana.
What you’ll do
Actively cultivate a portfolio of existing and new philanthropic partners to achieve revenue targets, including:
- Undertake ongoing, active prospecting, including the development of prospecting materials.
- Manage all inbound requests from partners in the management portfolio.
- Work closely with members of the P&C team to align the portfolio with other fund development efforts (including Africa Frontline First opportunities)
- Manage the development and ensure delivery of high-quality, accurate, and timely donor deliverables, including but not limited to concept notes, proposals, pitches, and due diligence (including site visits).
- Set and implement individualized cultivation strategies for each high-priority partner, developed in collaboration with Primary Relationship Owners (PROs) and country team leadership.
- Conduct ongoing stewardship using a high-touch engagement model
- Support and/or represent LMH in events and activities to recognize and motivate current and prospective donors. Examples include the Skoll World Forum, UNGA week, and World Health Assembly. Make recommendations for LMH attendance at conferences or events to drive business development strategies.
Implement and improve processes to advance portfolio, including change management:
- Provide strategic thinking around portfolio revenue targets, serving as an internal expert and advisor on portfolios to advance informed programmatic planning.
- Identify and lead efforts to integrate DEI considerations into business development efforts and decisions.
- Ensure consistent use of Salesforce for prospect and pipeline data entry & reporting, and revenue projections.
- Improve and adhere to LMH Standard Operating Procedures for partner vetting, opportunity vetting, and proposal development to increase organizational understanding of roles to drive these processes and associated decision rights.
- Provide lateral coaching to Partnerships and programmatic team members to set and execute donor engagement strategy to meet annual fundraising targets as aligned with LMH values.
What You'll Bring
- Progressive experience in fundraising with a proven track record of successful portfolio management towards accomplishing revenue goals.
- Ability to craft and effectively communicate key audience-focused messages/materials, galvanizing donors to support.
- Demonstrated experience managing donor-facing deliverables; strong project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to plan backwards to hit deadlines.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with strong emotional intelligence and a passion for building relationships across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Entrepreneurial approach to work: proposes solutions to issues without much guidance (but isn’t afraid to ask questions); proactively develops and manages next steps, anticipating problems and course-correcting where needed.
- Has, or can create, a system for keeping tasks from slipping through the cracks; able to juggle competing demands at one time and prioritize without sacrificing quality.
- Experience using Google Suite and Salesforce.
You’ll Impress Us If
- Experience leading project design conversations and/or project budgeting as part of proposal development.
- Familiarity with global public health NGOs.

For Ghana, the range is $22,260 - $37,100 USD dependent upon experience doing an equivalent role. Please note that this compensation is subject to statutory taxes.
For the United States, the range is $63,298 - $75,549 USD dependent upon experience doing an equivalent role. Please note that this compensation is subject to statutory taxes.
