Job description

The expected salary range for this position is $159,550.00 - $199,420.00. Employees in specific high cost of labor locations in the United States (such as San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA) may qualify for a geographic differential. The Senior Manager leads and develops Compassion's global technical architecture function in collaboration with local and international work teams, accepting responsibility for technical designs that promote value, fit for purpose, and economies of scale within agile release train priorities.  This role is responsible for establishing the portfolio’s technology vision, strategy, and roadmaps. This includes incorporating our partner platforms, cloud, data, and AI technologies to create strategic advantage.
 

The primary purpose of this position is to provide full management through subordinate managers and/or senior professional staff. This responsibility includes coaching, performance management, assigning, checking, and approving work to satisfy broad objectives and department strategies, as well as hiring, discipline, and termination. The incumbent will ensure completion of department responsibilities, calling on available resources to achieve department objectives, working within approved budget.

  • Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.

  • Provides leadership, planning and consultation to subordinates, executives, and peer management in the successful alignment of assigned department resources to ensure achievement of operational priorities and initiatives, integrating priorities within organizational strategies to ensure that department's purpose is fulfilled.

  • Contributes to or prepares and administers the annual budget and departmental expenses, ensuring accountability for on-time completion of deliverables based on department objectives, SLAs, and other Compassion standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory and board policies.

  • Selects, manages and develops assigned staff, establishing goals and objectives, coaching and managing performance, including discipline, motivation, and annual reviews; supports continuous learning and development that enhances individual performance and organizational capability.

  • Manages staff who plan, research, and design secure integrated (global) systems that enable organizational objectives and address release train demand, balancing tradeoffs between business and technical implications while focusing on fit for purpose and cost to value solutions. Develops and manages conceptual, logical, and physical architectures in accordance Compassion standards. Offers improvements, modifications and simplifications to architectural standards.

  • Designs, oversees and coordinates continual improvement to Compassion’s architectural runway (applications, infrastructure and security). Oversees and supplies technology roadmaps and cooperates in managing the architectural runway. Provides insights and direction on economies of scale, technology product upgrades, and opportunities for technology retirement and technology global roadmap progress to demand management teams.

  • Defines and improves work patterns and standards to speed the release train, reduce risk and gain economies of scale while promoting technology re-use. Helps establish Architecture Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), success measures and metrics.

  • Collaborates with team champions to ensure compliance with technology standards that speed the release train and promote technology/investment reuse and security. Provides third-tier troubleshooting, redesign and solutions. Models and publishes Compassion’s business architecture, capturing major, complex process and system interactions, facilitating the construction of value streams, and customer journey mapping. Analyzes models to identify gaps in business and process capabilities and advises on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities

  • Creates and maintains key technical vendor relationships in coordination with Compassion procurement, providing technical product management. Participates in vendor management, escalations and negotiations for strategic vendors and cooperates in the evaluation of technology procurements to include evaluations based on ministry objectives, technical fit, and cost-benefit analysis.
