About Us:
Repwest Insurance, a subsidiary of U-Haul Holding Company, provides specialized insurance products and services. We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in insurance, regulatory compliance, and accounts payable. This role is essential for ensuring the company’s adherence to industry regulations and maintaining efficient payment processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements specific to the insurance industry, including the preparation of regulatory filings.
Monitor internal processes to ensure alignment with regulatory guidelines and company policies.
Maintain and enhance internal controls related to accounts payable and regulatory compliance.
Work closely with external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits and examinations.
Assist with the implementation of process improvements to optimize accounts payable workflows.
Provide mentorship and support to junior staff in the accounting department.
Collaborate with the compliance team to stay current on evolving regulatory standards and ensure company-wide adherence.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3+ years of accounting experience, experience in P&C Insurance and Regulatory Compliance a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge of GAAP and STAT (statutory) accounting.
Experience using SAP ECC ERP and/or SAP S/4 Hana is a plus.
Strong oral and written communication skills, good listening skills, and excellent attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure.
Ability to meet tight deadlines while working independently and as a strong team player.
Attention to detail, organized and thorough, with a desire for continuous improvement.
