Air Products seeks a Gen-Gas Site Supervisor at our on-site customer operating facilities in Kokomo IN and Battle Creek MI. We are looking for an individual who embodies a safety-first mentality, takes ownership for getting results and can complete daily operating and maintenance activities.

The Gen Gas Supervisor will oversee the operation and maintenance of 3 HPNs (15 HPN in Kokomo IN and 11 and 20 HPNs in Battle Creek MI) and provide additional operations and outage support of our Butler IN facility which includes three Air Separation Units (ASU) to include Hydrogen and Argon purification plant, and multiple liquid storage tanks and back-ups. 

You will understand all aspects of each of the Site’s complex operation with a primary focus on the operating process equipment and quality systems.

We will provide you with a company vehicle to travel between the sites and ideally, you will reside centrally between the plants - (Fort Wayne IN area) to allow for timely plant response as required.

Required Skills / Abilities: 

  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills

  • A track record of success in Safety, Environmental, Quality and Employee Involvement

  • Strong plant operating experience in similar plants or operations of similar complexity

  • A strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity

  • A track record in driving continuous improvement

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Prior customer interfacing experience/exposure would be helpful in this role

  • A self-starter with proven leadership abilities

  

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Managing remote plants, while providing support for the Butler IN site

  • Basic Safety Process compliance and process safety management

  • Providing environmental, safety, and quality oversight

  • Support day-to-day operations, including troubleshooting plant process problems, directly supervising daily plant activities, meeting all reporting requirements, and driving plant maintenance and improvement projects

  • 24/7 on-call weekends/holidays to support onsite plant issues if OSC is not able to resolve remotely

  • Working with the operations team and support resources to achieve productivity targets in all areas

  • Identify maintenance concerns and implement corrective or preventative measures

  • Interface with the customer and ensure all product and services meet contractual specifications

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • A High School diploma is required

  • 3-years minimum of work experience in a manufacturing/production, processing, or similar military assignments, including Aviation Construction and Maintenance, Navy Nuclear, Cryogenics or Ground Support Equipment (GSE)

  • This is a safety sensitive position. Must be able to wear appropriate PPE and be able to physically perform all tasks in the field

  • Availability to travel 50% locally - same day travel within 2 hours of your residence

  • Ability to lift 50lbs and climb stairs and ladders

  • A valid drivers' license and a good driving record are required
