Job description

Job Title: Senior Data Engineer

Company: Chamber

Location: Remote

About Us:
Chamber is an early-stage health tech startup dedicated to transforming cardiovascular health through value-based care. Leveraging advanced technology and data analytics, we empower cardiology practices and healthcare providers to make data-driven decisions. We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer as our first dedicated data expert to establish a scalable data architecture and manage the entire data lifecycle within our platform.

Position Overview:
As Chamber’s Senior Data Engineer, you will build our data architecture from the ground up, develop ETL pipelines, and ensure reliable data processing for internal analytics, platform insights, and reporting. Collaborating with a lean software engineering team and cross-functional colleagues in Product, Design, and Analytics, you’ll define and manage data requirements, support healthcare ontologies, coding systems, and data interoperability. This role is a unique opportunity to lead the data engineering efforts that will drive Chamber’s mission of improving cardiovascular health through value-based care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Architecture: Design and implement a scalable data architecture to support the platform's data needs and internal analytics.

  • ETL Pipelines: Build, monitor, and optimize ETL pipelines to ensure timely and accurate data processing.

  • Data Integration & Interoperability: Oversee interoperability for integrating healthcare data systems, including ontologies and coding standards.

  • Analytics & Reporting: Develop data workflows to support internal analytics and external reporting features.

  • Data Quality & Governance: Ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with healthcare standards, including HIPAA and SOC2.

  • Collaboration: Partner with R&D, customers, and strategic partners to define data requirements, design analytics capabilities, and support reporting.

  • Cloud Management: Implement and manage cloud-based data solutions to ensure optimal performance and scalability.

  • BI Tooling & Reporting: Integrate BI tools, providing stakeholders with reliable and accessible data insights.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Proven experience developing scalable data architectures within a startup environment.

  • Proficiency in Git for version control and collaboration.

  • Expertise in cloud services (preferably AWS) for data storage, processing, and security (S3, Redshift, RDS, Athena).

  • Strong skills in building and managing ETL pipelines with modern tools (e.g., dlt, dbt) and orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Temporal, Spark, Kafka).

  • Ability to work in agile, fast-paced environments with autonomy and accountability.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Remote work experience with strong collaboration skills.

  • Experience designing data architectures supporting cataloging, lineage, and governance.

  • Knowledge of containerized application deployment.

  • Expertise with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) to enable real-time or scheduled BI reporting.

  • Familiarity with healthcare terminology and standards (e.g., RxNorm, ICD10, SNOMED, LOINC, CPT).

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with AI, Large Language Models (LLM), or NLP in healthcare data applications.

  • Infrastructure-as-code expertise with tools like Terraform or Pulumi.

Why Join Chamber:

  • Join a pioneering team transforming cardiovascular health and value-based care.

  • Lead the data architecture that will power our platform and enable impactful healthcare insights.

  • Competitive compensation, including employee equity.

  • Opportunity to shape and define the data function within a growing organization.

Application Process:

Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume and a cover letter detailing their relevant experience and interest in Chamber’s mission. Chamber values diversity and inclusion and is an equal opportunity employer.

If you’re a data engineering expert ready to build and scale a data architecture that will transform cardiovascular care, we encourage you to apply and join our team at Chamber.
