As the first digital hospital, we are rebuilding the healthcare experience from scratch. This is what allows us to provide patients with an outstanding level of care that we would love to experience ourselves.

To help us maintain this level of care, we need to expand our Engineering Team with highly motivated and passionate people who thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

As a Senior Fullstack Developer, you will be a crucial part of fulfilling our mission to raise the standard of secondary care and make it accessible to all. Together with the rest of the team, you will create a new way of providing simpler, smarter, and more personal healthcare for everybody in the UK and beyond by developing and maintaining meaningful features for our different applications to support our patients, medical professionals, and staff along their journeys.
What you will do
  • Scale and improve existing backend and frontend features, services, and data sources for our applications, serving patients, healthcare professionals, and Medbelle staff.
  • Build and maintain performant, scalable internal and customer-facing web applications using our backend and frontend technology stack.
  • Set up and maintain performance monitoring systems to enable continuous improvement strategies across our full stack platform.
  • Collaborate with Product and Design teams to define development sprints and deliver beautiful, high-quality UIs aligned with our design system.
  • Define and implement initiatives to improve development workflows and tooling for both backend and frontend applications.
  • Deploy and maintain a secure, robust, and scalable platform and infrastructure.
  • Improve and maintain testing setups, including end-to-end testing, to ensure reliable and predictable changes across the stack.
  • Document engineering guidelines and best practices for both frontend and backend development.
  • Mentor other engineers on full stack best practices and technical leadership in your areas of expertise.
Key Components of Our Tech Stack
  • Backend: Python + Django with PostgreSQL, Django Q for task queueing, Graphene for GraphQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
  • Frontend: React + Next.js, TailwindCSS for styling, a custom design system for building UIs, Apollo client for data fetching, Playwright for end-to-end testing, deployed via Vercel.
Who you are
  • 6+ years of experience as a software developer.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to debug and optimize performance issues across the stack.
  • Proven experience building performant production-level APIs and web applications using Django, Django RESTful, GraphQL, and React.
  • Proficient in SQL, especially with PostgreSQL, and CSS, particularly TailwindCSS.
  • Professional fluency in English.
Bonus points
  • Experience with headless CMS solutions or Wagtail.
  • Familiarity with SQLAlchemy, Docker, and AWS deployment pipelines.
  • Experience with Apollo client and GraphQL libraries, design systems like Storybook, end-to-end testing with Playwright, and React component testing.
  • TypeScript experience in production applications.
  • Background in healthcare tech or working in startups or other high-growth environments.
