About the role:

The consultant supports the engagement leader in project activities at various levels of responsibility, including but not limited to, project management, document preparation, data analysis and assimilation, meeting facilitation, and client and service provider communication.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead benchmarking, RFP, contracting, audit, implementation and/or relationship remediation projects coordinating with the Managing Director and/or Senior Consultant as necessary
  • Lead the gathering and assimilation of client- or project-specific data into project document templates
  • Manage formal project communication/interaction with service provider candidates and client
  • Oversee summarization of RFP responses which are delivered via side-by-side analyses; review, edit and approve drafts prepared by analysts
  • Facilitate client discussions (meetings or calls) related to benefit outsourcing scope of services requirements, customization of performance standards, contract terms, development of RFP questionnaires, RFP candidates, finalist selection, Mutual Value Discovery and site visit results, best and final offer outcomes and selection of the winning bidder(s)
  • Interact with client representatives from HRIT, legal, communications and other HR/Benefits functions to achieve project objectives

Internal Support Duties

  • Identify and implement improvements to templates and procedures
  • Attend regular team meetings
  • Keep detailed and accurate track of time spent each on various tasks each day using the timekeeping tool provided

Personal Development

  • Keep up to date on and engaged with the advisory and benefits industry by taking advantage of herronpalmer provided training, actively seeking expert materials, and following appropriate social media.

Skills needed:

  • Ten+ years of business experience overall
  • Seven+ years of experience employed by an industry-relevant administration outsourcing firm in a client-servicing, solution architect or sales/RFP support role, or a large corporation in an industry-relevant administration, supervisory or management role
  • Demonstrated administration/service delivery experience in at least one primary benefit domain (pension, 401(k) or H&W) in the areas of solution development, client implementation, ongoing client service delivery or sales/RFP support
  • Strong knowledge of benefit program design in at least one primary benefit domain (pension, 401(k) or H&W)
  • Deep expertise with administration best practices and systems in at least one primary benefit domain (pension, 401(k) or H&W)
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite developing documents for internal and client-ready consumption
  • Ability to work independently in a virtual work environment and achieve significant results
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and presentation skills
