Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will shape the commercial future of Amgen’s inflammation pipeline. The Executive Director, Global Marketing, Early Inflammation Assets Lead is a critical role in the Global Marketing organization that has a significant impact on advancing innovation in the inflammation portfolio. This role will actively shape the newly emerging opportunity areas in the autoimmune and inflammation space. These medications have a significant potential to transform patient care and represent one of the most exciting scientific advancements in the autoimmune and inflammation therapeutic area.

In this role, you will work with and help lead a cross-functional team of leaders to rapidly advance a promising cluster of early-stage assets through to commercialization. As part of this, you will help develop and drive the franchise strategy for these assets. You will also play a key leadership role in numerous product teams (PTs) to drive the advancement of these early inflammation assets. This is a highly visible role in the organization, and requires executive presence, integration, communication, and problem-solving capabilities. It also requires extensive experience in the inflammation space, as well as scientific and business acumen.

In this role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead rapid advancement of early pipeline assets in the autoimmune space

  • Serve as the global marketing lead for asset Product Teams, and in some cases serve as the Product Team lead

  • Parter with cross-functional teams (clinical development, research, operations, medical, etc.) to rapidly advance early-stage assets to commercialization

  • Contribute to and drive the broader strategy development in the autoimmune space

  • Serve as the global commercial lead on cross functional franchise teams to ensure strategic and execution connectivity across various asset teams and therapeutic areas

  • Lead global marketing and commercial activities for select early-stage assets, including business case development, forecasting, opportunity assessments, and life cycle management strategy

  • Regularly interface with executive leadership in governance meetings to drive decision making and organizational alignment to execution

  • Provide Commercial input on Business Development efforts

Key activities and accountabilities include the following:

  • Develop and articulate commercial opportunity for products

  • Ensure timeliness and quality of key commercial inputs, as well as broader Product Team outputs

  • Forge relationships and cross-functional collaboration

  • Represent commercial points of view on Product Teams

  • Shape cross-functional and commercial strategy for early assets

  • Develop business cases, including opportunity assessment and forecasting for early assets

  • Regularly interface with executive level governance to drive decisions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree & 6 years of global marketing experience OR

  • Master’s degree & 10 years of global marketing experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree & 12 years of global marketing experience AND

  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resource

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least ten years of experience in a series of commercial roles of increasing scope, scale, and complexity, with leading companies in the biopharmaceutical industry

  • Experience developing and implementing innovative global marketing and commercial strategies for pipeline products in the autoimmune and inflammation space

  • Prior experience in commercial roles (marketing, market access) is key, including with early-stage assets

  • Scientific acumen and expertise in the autoimmune and inflammation space

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment, managing global projects involving multiple functions and shared accountabilities.

  • An MBA and/or PhD in a scientific field is strongly preferred

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $287,903 to $329,676.
