Business Unit Overview:
The UK marketing organization works with clients and partners across retail, wealth manager and private banks, financial advisor networks, institutional businesses, consultants and distribution platforms. It is a function that interfaces closely with the business and sales partners to delivery truly customer centric marketing programs that drive further adoption of our technology, index and active solutions.
The UK marketing team, based in London is responsible for all marketing and communication activities across all UK client segments and business lines (Retail active funds, ETF and index, solutions mandates). The team works closely with central marketing teams in London and New York, other local marketing teams across EMEA, as well as local agencies.
Job Overview / Key Responsibilities
The UK Institutional Associate will be responsible for marketing and communications activities covering all areas of our Institutional Client Business. This covers DC and DB Pension Schemes, Consultants, OCIO (Fiduciary Management), Local Authority and Insurance Companies. The role sits in London within a team of 9 marketers who work on different client segments across the firm.
Responsibilities include:
1. Delivery of the marketing plan in alignment with key parts of our Institutional Client Business
Working with the team lead to help us drive distribution of our solutions and products deeper into institutional portfolios. Key aspects of the role are:
- Work with the ICB Marketing lead to execute on our objectives and strategy for key businesses in alignment with the UK sales targets
- Develop a full understanding of the UK investment market in order to ensure successful positioning and marketing of BlackRock products
- Gather a deep knowledge of retail, institutional and iShares marketing strategies and distribution channels
- Deploy marketing budget for key parts of the institutional business
- Report on efficiency and effectiveness of the marketing program to our UK Head of Marketing and Business throughout the year
2. Campaign development
The team implements campaigns across the full marketing mix aimed at driving distribution of our products deeper into client segments. Key aspects of the role are:
- Develop marketing campaigns and collateral to own the conversation within the institutional space around ESG, retirement, indexing, fiduciary management, Alternatives and solutions
- Leverage each marketing channel to deliver a frictionless client experience that drives engagement through the customer journey
3. Digital & Social marketing
Being a digital expert is critical in this role. The ideal candidate will have the knowledge and experience of:
- Building CRM programs that leverage best practice lifecycle marketing through systems such as Eloqua, Salesforce or Marketo
- Strong understanding of user experience principles and mapping client journeys
- Ability to work with publishing and development teams to develop new website experiences
- Comfort in developing and launching Linkedin campaigns
Experience and qualifications
- Associate level (at least 5 years’ experience) with proven track record working on UK financial service brands
- Understanding of different types of fund structures, including Investment Trusts, OEICs, ETFs and Unit Trusts
- Creative thinker with attention to detail and focus on delivery
- Strong communication skills, including an ability to liaise with senior stakeholders to drive and communicate clear plans and also move projects forward in a complex environment
- Able to operate in a fast-paced environment with flexibility regarding changes in strategy and project plan
- A proven track record of professional and personal achievement
- Educated to degree level

Our hybrid work model
