What are Aladdin and Aladdin Engineering?

  • You will be working on BlackRock's investment operating system called Aladdin. Aladdin is used both internally within BlackRock and externally by many financial institutions. Aladdin combines sophisticated risk analytics with comprehensive portfolio management, trading, and operations tools on a single platform to power informed decision-making and create a connective tissue for thousands of users investing worldwide.
  • Our Quality Assurance teams reside inside the Aladdin Engineering group. We collaboratively build the next generation of technology that changes the way information, people, and technology intersect for global investment firms. We build and package tools that manage trillions in assets and supports millions of financial instruments. We perform risk calculations and process millions of transactions for thousands of users every day worldwide!

Job Purpose / Background:

AQE (Aladdin Quality Engineering) is a globally distributed team supporting Quality Engineering initiatives for Apps on Aladdin. AQE employs use of industry-leading tools (Selenium, Cypress, Cucumber, Jenkins, Azure dev ops) to support the testing activities. As a QA Engineer you will work as part of the Global testing team supporting Quality Engineering activities for applications on the Aladdin platform.

Responsibilities include:

  • Become a Subject Matter Expert on applications & own Quality attestations for sign off on production releases.
  • Responsible for functional, non-functional and regression testing activities of a project.
  • Design and develop comprehensive test scenarios based on functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Apply expertise in Java, Selenium, or other test frameworks to design, develop and maintain automated test suites. Identify, document, and track defects in a clear and concise manner.
  • Follow Agile model to track and manage sprint tasks using ADO which includes sprint planning, execution, and retrospectives.
  • Analyze production Incidents to identify action items for QA and Dev teams to drive Production stability.
  • Provide feedback to improve the product quality and contribute to the enhancement of testing processes.
  • Effectively communicate testing metrics, progress, schedules, and issues impacting delivery.
  • Troubleshoot Application, Environment or Data Issues.
  • Stay up to date on industry best practices in quality assurance.
  • Drive a strong culture by bringing principles of inclusion and diversity to the team and setting the tone through specific recruiting, management actions and employee engagement.

Qualifications:

B.E. / B.Tech. / MCA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject area

For Analyst : 1-3 years of experience

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in software quality assurance in a financial services firm (e.g., Investment Banking, Asset Management). Deep understanding of investment management processes, risk management methodologies, regulatory compliance requirements or Investment Accounting skills.
  • Exposure to automation framework implementation, Hands on coding experience in Java is a must.
  • Familiarity with IntelliJ IDE or logical equivalent.
  • Proficient in manual, automation & performance testing techniques (e.g., Selenium, Junit, Cypress, JMeter, SOAP/REST).
  • Solid understanding of Agile software development methodologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux environments, strong SQL skills and exposure to databases (Sybase, SQL Server, Cassandra).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Nice to have and opportunities to learn:

  • Experience of working in Agile Development Team
  • AZURE Dev Ops, CI/CD integration and associated tools and processes (Jenkins, Maven, SonarQube).
  • AI and Machine Learning (ChatGPT or GitHub CoPilot)
  • Cucumber and BDD
  • Cloud based testing.
  • API testing (Postman, Soap UI)
