We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Product Marketing Director to take the helm in setting product marketing strategy for an innovative new AI technology-based product and support the related execution of go-to-market programs to accelerate growth.

 

The Product Marketing Director will play a key role in defining and orchestrating the end-to-end GTM process as the connective tissue between the Product Management organization and the teams that drive go-to-market initiatives.  The Product Marketing Director will refine and optimize the core PMM operating model, execution, and ongoing communication. This role requires a strategic thinker who has proven success with messaging, positioning, narrative design, and customer / market validation in addition to product launches, releases, sales plays, and other data-driven go-to-market strategies.  The Product Marketing Director will work cross-functionally to align business objectives, create compelling value propositions, and support our GTM partners drive engagement with the stakeholders we support, and provide regular performance and status updates to key stakeholders across the business.

Responsibilities:
  • Messaging, positioning, & narrative development. Set a standard of excellence with proven messaging, positioning, and narrative development methodologies.  Support and inspire your counterparts within the PMM team to build these critical resources for the existing and new offerings in their purview.  Ensure market validation, and that all internal and external communications reflect the value and differentiation of our various targeted offerings.
  • Product / offering owner alignment. Work with the Product Management team to develop and refine IDG’s target persona(s), jobs to be done, packaging & pricing, value propositions, competitive landscape, market trends, roadmap changes, and Sales needs.  Define roles & responsibilities between Product Marketing and Product Management to avoid gaps or overlaps across key accountabilities and develop a jointly agreed-upon operating model to ensure continual alignment and impactful execution.
  • Roadmap content and communications. Partner with Product owners to build and maintain a system to track customer-focused roadmap plans and timing across business units.  Centralize a POV on roadmap initiatives and develop a standardized customer-facing roadmap asset that is appropriate for customer consumption covering different timeframes for different business purposes.
  • Launch / release planning and execution. Implement a world-class launch process.  Ensure tight alignment across all functions and that cross-functional launch / release deliverables are on-time and high quality.
  • Sales play and GTM development / support. Support sales plays and GTM efforts and ensure its execution cross-functionally.  Lead / guide colleagues that focus on market insights and customer development techniques to test and validate hypotheses around sales plays, messaging, and more.  Approach sales play execution with cross-functional partners by your side, and establish clear accountabilities between teams to ensure consistent, efficient, and effective execution.
  • GTM content.  Standardize the usage of repeatable frameworks that accelerate the development of content from messaging, positioning, narratives, and more.  Set a standard of excellence and develop and/or partner when building key pieces of content, including sales presentations, datasheets, web copy, and demonstrations. 
  • Executive presentation skills. Present your team’s plans, status, and successes at various internal meetings ranging from executive updates to weekly cross-functional project meetings.
  • Cross-functional collaboration.  Represent yourself as a pillar of excellence of what it means to be the connective tissue between the product/offering teams and the rest of the GTM value chain.  Define clear accountabilities between teams in addition to an ongoing operating model that defines how you and your teams will support key stakeholders to achieve business goals
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in product marketing in the technology or data industries.
  • Proven leadership of productive, successful teams.
  • Strong positioning, messaging, and narrative development skills.
  • Experience with pricing strategy, market research, and customer validation techniques.
  • Proven track record of developing and launching successful products or services.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable plans.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and business units.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced matrixed environment.
  • Previous experience working with sales and/or marketing technolgy stack is highly preferred.   
  • Ability to travel up to 10%-20% 

This role can be 100% remote in an approved US location.

Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process. This process considers the experience, education, certifications, and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated employees, as well as employer-verified US region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $170,00 and $240,000 and is inclusive of base salary and variable compensation (if applicable).
