Job description

About Us

Parallel Works is a Chicago-based startup focused on technical computing for science, engineering and business applications. The Parallel Works SaaS platform makes high performance computing (HPC) workflows easy, fast and collaborative on hybrid cloud and supercomputing environments. The platform acts as middleware between these wide ranges of computing resources and allows organizations to leverage their resource, billing and user hierarchies in a uniform way. Our customers range from small and nimble startups and research organizations creating innovative computing and ML pipelines to the world’s leading flood modeling engineers to government weather and defense agencies to global automotive suppliers.

The Role As a Senior Application Manager, you’ll play a central role in understanding, supporting, and advancing our customers’ HPC needs. This includes integrating customer applications on our platform, developing custom solutions and proofs of concept, and maintaining existing applications to ensure they perform at their best. You’ll create training materials, demonstrate solutions, and act as a “power user,” helping customers automate and optimize their workloads on Activate. In this position, you’ll work closely with our support and development teams, translating customer requirements into new platform features. You’ll also engage in presales activities to assist our sales team in showcasing Activate’s potential to new clients. A core part of your role will be solving customer challenges by collaborating with HPC and domain experts on applications like weather modeling, CFD simulations, and AI, and organizing structured customer engagement to assess needs, identify opportunities, and maximize value through our platform. Responsibilities Collaborate with customers to understand requirements and integrate applications on Activate. Develop custom applications and proofs of concept, adapting them to specific customer needs. Maintain and update existing applications, ensuring optimal functionality and performance. Produce training materials and lead demonstrations to enhance customer understanding. Test and evaluate new platform features, offering insights to improve user experience. Provide technical support to customers, addressing challenges and troubleshooting issues. Assist the sales team by contributing to presale activities and showcasing Activate’s capabilities. Coordinate with support and development teams to convert customer feedback into actionable features. Collaborate with HPC and subject matter experts to solve customer-specific technical issues. Facilitate structured customer engagement, assessing needs and guiding customers toward value realization through Activate.
