Job description

Primer’s People team is here to build a great, sustainable business - and we know that our people are our competitive advantage. We recognise the monumental shift in the world of work in recent years and understand our role in redefining the employee experience to meet the diverse and evolving needs of our ‘Primigos’. We’ve been fully remote and globally-distributed since we founded in 2019 and are committed to fostering an empowering culture anchored on trust and flexibility.

Our team operates with a Product mindset, meaning we take a user-centric approach to building our employee experience and deliver value by developing products that help Primigos to do their best work. We work to clear metrics like NPS, eLTV and CAC, ruthlessly prioritise our time and budget on efforts that deliver the highest ROI, and are obsessed with finding smarter ways to work with automation and AI.

What will the role involve?

We expect our People Partners to bring t-shaped skills; with broad abilities across the entire employee lifecycle and a strong understanding of the dependencies of each, coupled with a spike in either ‘backend’ or ‘frontend’ skills:

Either Backend focus:

  • Payroll: Lead on global payroll operations with compliant processing of salary sacrifice, variable payments, benefit in kind, 3rd party withholdings and payments & other ad-hoc data input. Oversee Employer of Record payroll & benefits processing.

  • Systems & Process: Be the resident expert in people system and process design; owning the People & Talent tech stack and operations.

  • Data Governance: Uphold people data integrity and governance across all tools.

  • Compliance: Ensure global people compliance; conduct comprehensive audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

  • Analytics: Own our people analytics; develop dashboards and track our key metrics to provide real-time insights into our people product performance and roadmap delivery.

  • Operations: Obsess about the backend of our people products, conducting process reviews and continuously look at ways to refine and scale our ops to optimise our employee experience

  • Key metrics will include: employee NPS, process efficiency, data accuracy, audit results

Or Frontend focus:

  • Research: Conduct regular people product research with our leaders, managers and employees to understand their needs, behaviours and motivations, building user personas.

  • Plan: Identify pain points & moments that matter throughout the employee lifecycle and translate those needs into feature requests on our people roadmap with a first principles mindset, developing a hypothesis for each.

  • Build: Iteratively build people products and features such as Career Frameworks, Performance Management, Total Rewards, People Policies & Benefits, starting with an MVP solution with the basic set of features needed to release, testing and gathering user feedback to improve over time.

  • Launch: Ensure people product launches and changes are clearly communicated, building emotional connection.

  • Drive adoption: Measure & drive adoption, enabling self-service with first-class documentation, looms, and/or training.

  • Support: Advise, coach and support managers and employees through difficult situations and handle tickets/support requests; gathering the qual & quant data needed to improve products to better meet user needs.

  • Key metrics will include: employee NPS, productivity, retention, time to onboard.

What are we looking for?

  • Broad experience and a holistic understanding of the entire employee lifecycle; onboarding, payroll, benefits, total rewards, culture, DIB, engagement, performance, growth, employee relations, compliance, offboarding.

  • Experience working in scale-up environments, delivering against ambitious roadmaps with a global remit; remote working experience is a plus.

  • Comfortable working and making decisions in fast-paced, high-pressure environments and within ambiguity.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Unwavering discretion, confidentiality and absolute professionalism.

  • Either Backend focus:

    • Experience managing UK payroll; gross-to-net, pension requirements, severance pay. International payroll, in particular - USA, Singapore, Hong Kong - is a plus.

    • Experience building and managing complex systems & processes with a strong understanding of how to uphold people data integrity and governance.

    • Knowledge of global employment compliance, laws and regulations

    • Proficiency in data analysis and BI tools like SQL, Metabase, Tableau, Looker, GSheets, with experience leveraging them for reporting

  • Or Frontend focus:

    • Experience building user-centric people products end-to-end; simple, self-served, tech-enabled and pleasing to the eye.

    • Strong project management skills with the ability to mobilise cross-functional teams and leaders toward a common goal.

    • A focus on simple and brilliant user experience and small iterations, thinking from first principles when solving problems

    • Experience managing global employee relations; coaching and advising employees at all levels.
