Job description

About Blue J

Blue J is the leading solution in generative AI for tax experts. We’re a B2B SaaS company whose customers are accountants and lawyers, and our AI-tax research software is the best in the market.

Since launching our flagship Generative AI product, we have blown past our revenue targets quarter over quarter, and are growing our sales and marketing to support our growth.

We are racing ahead with an exciting product development roadmap to continue to delight our customers and to ensure that our users can generate the very best possible tax research answers in the service of their clients in record time.

The Opportunity

One of the most important opportunities that we have to connect with our customers is through events. We are looking for an event coordinator to ensure that all Blue J events are executed perfectly.

We’re looking for somebody organized and creative, who thrives in the fast-paced and ever-changing event world. Our ideal candidate is a proactive, enthusiastic problem solver who anticipates all the details (big and small) that need to be planned to pull off a show stopping event.
In this role, you'll collaborate with sales and marketing to plan all Blue J events, including conferences, webinars, exhibits, and customer recognition events (and more!), as well as supporting Blue J’s internal event planning for our team.

We have only scratched the surface of the potential that events have to grow our business, and the person who joins us in this newly created role will have the exciting opportunity to grow with us.

Please note that while the bulk of this job can be done remotely, you’ll need to be able to commute to our downtown Toronto office to coordinate event logistics. This role may require travel 1x per month.

What To Expect
  • Event Planning & Execution: Plan and coordinate Blue J's events, including conferences, webinars, exhibits, and customer recognition events, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience from start to finish.
  • Collaboration with Sales & Marketing: Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to align event goals with business objectives, supporting lead generation, brand awareness, and client engagement efforts.
  • Logistics Coordination: Handle logistics, including booking venues, arranging travel, coordinating materials, purchasing swag, and managing on-site details to ensure seamless event delivery.
  • Creativity & Branding: With the support of our marketing team, develop and implement creative elements that align with Blue J’s brand identity and elevate the event experience for attendees.
  • Internal Event Support: Organize internal company events to foster team engagement, support employee appreciation initiatives, and enhance Blue J’s workplace culture.
  • Problem Solving & Flexibility: Anticipate and proactively solve any issues that arise, adapting to last-minute changes and remaining calm in the sometimes-stressful-event-world.
  • Budget Management: Assist in creating and managing event budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and keeping expenses within budget.
  • Vendor Coordination: Liaise with vendors, service providers, and other external partners, negotiating contracts and ensuring deliverables are met to a high standard.
  • Reporting & Feedback: Gather and analyze post-event feedback, compiling data on attendance, engagement, and ROI to continuously improve future events.
  • Travel & On-Site Presence: Be prepared to travel up to once a month and regularly commute to the downtown Toronto office to oversee event logistics.

  • What You Offer Blue J
  • You’re organized and you thrive in an environment coordinating multiple moving parts.
  • You’re a strong communicator. You know how many stakeholders are involved in executing an event seamlessly, and you make sure all people involved know what they’re doing and when they’re doing it.
  • You’re a problem solver. In the event world, problems come up unexpectedly and often out of your control (flights can be missed, the venue can forget you ordered wifi, etc…). You see these issues not as problems, but as opportunities to exercise creativity and will work tenaciously to find solutions or alternatives.
  • You do your job with empathy and ownership. You treat Blue J events like they’re your own, and you see attendees as your guests. You are obsessed with the guest experience when planning events, and think about their journey.
  • You're adaptable. You understand that growth stage companies are constantly evolving, and you need to be flexible in your approach and expectations. You are open-minded and positive, seeing the opportunity and excitement in periods of growth and change.
  • You’re accountable. You do what you say you’re going to do, and are excited to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • You're excited about what we’re doing! You want to be an early contributor to one of Canada’s rapidly growing companies and are genuinely invested in sharing in our success!

  • A Bit About Us
  • We’re well-funded and offer competitive base salaries and stock options. You’ll play a crucial role in our growth, and it’s important to us that you share in our long-term success.
  • We are taking an exciting, highly anticipated new product into a virtually untapped market at a time when there is a huge amount of buzz around the type of work that we do. You’ll have the opportunity to work at our growing organization, and play a meaningful role in our expansion.
  • We've got great leadership and you'll get to work with and learn from team leaders with a proven track record of success in the technology industry.
  • We’ve got an amazing team. We’re mission-driven and motivated by success, but we’re friendly, we’re collaborative, and we care about each other. We’ve got all the start-up perks you’d expect, and are intentionally building a culture where you can pickleball if you want, feel safe to be yourself at work, and watch your career grow because your team has invested in you.
  • We care about you. You’ll have a healthy work/life balance and colleagues who respect it. We’ve mindfully put together a great benefits package that covers you and your whole family.

  • The Core Values That Define Our Culture
  • We are customer-focused
  • We put the team interest before self-interest
  • We are pleasant and playfulWe are open to better ideas
  • We deliver on our promises
  • We solve the tough problems
  • We respect the people who put time and effort into applying for a job with us, and will do our very best to respond to candidates within 3 weeks of their application.

We believe our strength is built on diversity of thought, and encourage candidates from all backgrounds and experiences to apply. We value inclusiveness and are an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
