As we continue to support growth and expansion, we are seeking a Backend Software Developer who loves solving interesting technical challenges and enabling compelling customer experiences to help us build the high-performance services and processing engines that power our clouds across the world.

Position Summary:
As a developer, you’ll be tasked with ensuring that all of our scalable systems remain robust while consistently delivering quick turnaround for an ever growing stream of requests and millions of hours of content a month. You’ll have opportunities to further simplify and streamline our ability to maintain our product, and to build fundamental architectural cornerstones that will empower the rest of the development team.

This position will benefit from backend software engineering skills, drawing on knowledge of coding and doing technical designs in high scale systems. Ideal candidates have a strong attention to detail and desire to get to the bottom of how things work, a drive to take action and improve things where they can, along with a natural focus on ensuring an excellent customer experience. This role will participate in our on-call rotation and be expected to respond to alerts outside of normal business hours when on-call. Other responsibilities may be assigned to help drive our vision and mission to  alignment with our organization’s values.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent amount of experience/training
  • This is an early career position requiring 0-2 years experience.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, parallel or distributed systems
  • Software engineering skills: componentization, automated testing, debugging, and coding/designing for fault tolerance
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • A track record of, and passion for, transparency

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Chef, etc.
  • Relational database expertise -- developing in the data layer and writing ad-hoc queries
  • Experience in automation frameworks (such as Jenkins)
  • Experience with caching systems and web servers
  • Experience running both Windows and Linux systems
  • Experience developing in Python
  • Technical design skills in backend and high-scale systems
  • A willingness to take on, drive, and maintain a variety of large and small projects
