So, what will the Instructional Systems Designer at Terrestris do?

Big picture, the VBA’s Human Capital Services (HCS) Training Management & Performance Improvement (TMPI) Division is responsible for oversight and direction for the training infrastructure, design, development, delivery, and program support for VBA’s training organizations that impact over 40,000 employees. TMPI partners with VBA Business Lines and Staff Offices to train employees in job skills necessary to provide benefits to our nation’s Veterans. TMPI uses instructional systems design, human performance technology, and program/project management to provide these services to VBA. For VBA to best accomplish its training mission, it is necessary to maintain and update the infrastructure for tracking, monitoring, and measuring VBA training, complete front-end analysis of job tasks, design, develop and deliver a variety of training programs that provide high quality, interactive and efficient learning that improves learner proficiency. This task order covers activities specific to Training Analysis and Development required to create, update, and maintain training products for VBA Critical job positions.

Specifically, you will support the VA by providing technical guidance including VA initiatives and in the Federal Government arena. You will analyze, design. develop, and create new training materials in order to ensure smooth operation of the Training Management and Perfomance Division.

What does a typical day look like for the Instructional Systems Designer?

You will:

  • Analyze, design, develop, create new training materials
  • Sustain, update, and reconfigure training materials and products across the VBA organization supporting a vast stakeholder population
  • Provide expertise and support personnel to perform activities that include but are not limited to human performance improvement, needs assessment, test design, formative and summative evaluation, usability testing, course validation, test reliability and validity, diagnostic testing, job and task analysis, front end analysis, training situation analysis, competency alignment, proficiency assessments, performance support systems and updates and maintenance as required
  • Identify all assumptions as to scope of required activities and number and type of components along with their technical approach to complete the work
  • Submit a monthly report that documents the type and description of training design and development work in progress and completed, issues and coordination with SMEs, activities completed and remaining, and other information as may be required

What qualifications do you look for?

  • A bachelor’s degree in human performance technology or a field of study related to the assigned projects
  • A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience in projects of national scope
  • Experience as a government contractor
