Billing Supervisor @ Midi Health: 👩‍⚕️💻

Midi is seeking an experienced and dedicated Billing Supervisor to lead and scale our rapid growing billing team. This individual will ensure the seamless and accurate execution of all billing operations while driving team performance. This role will manage a team of billing, eligibility and financial discharge specialists, and work cross-functionally with the financial, clinical, patient experience, scheduling and patient service teams. Key responsibilities include resolving issues promptly and effectively within established SLA’s, performance monitoring, and optimizing processes as we scale. . The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in medical billing, particularly in telehealth settings, expertise inAthenaHealth and Zendesk, and a strong background in A/R, collections, eligibility and administrative (financial) discharges.

  • Supervise and mentor a team of billing, eligibility and discharge specialists, providing guidance and training to ensure accuracy and efficiency in our operations.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including patient billing support, claim hold resolution, collections, A/R & denial management, administrative discharge and eligibility requests.
  • Ensure that all billing and coding activities adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements, particularly focusing on telehealth services.
  • Monitor the verification of patient insurance eligibility prior to services, ensuring accuracy and timely confirmation.
  • Oversee the team’s performance of AthenaHealth and Zendesk platforms, ensuring that tickets and cases are processed within established SLA’s, and that backlogs are minimized.
  • Supervise the administrative (financial) discharge process, ensuring it aligns with established policies.
  • Monitor and manage accounts receivable, implementing strategies to reduce aging balances and ensure effective collections processes.
  • Participate in audits to generate and analyze reports on billing third party performance, A/R, and collections, providing actionable insights to improve workflows and productivity.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure smooth workflows and patient-centered billing practices are being followed.
  • Stay updated on payer rules, coding guidelines, and industry changes, ensuring team members are trained accordingly when necessary.
  • Serve as the escalation point for unresolved billing inquiries, complex claim issues, or patient financial concerns.

What you will need to succeed: 🌱

  • Associate’s degree in business administration, health administration, or related field .
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare administration, revenue cycle management, and/or medical billing, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of remote work experience in a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven conflict resolution skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and de-escalate tense situations. 
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in billing for women's health services and/or telehealth.
  • AthenaHealth and Zendesk experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Revenue cycle certifications are a plus, but not required.
  • Proficiency in Google Office Tools and experience with reporting.
