Job description

We're looking for a Ship Technical Superintendent/Chief Engineer for one of our clients. Our client, a leading player in the food trading industry with over 20 years of experience, operates in 5+ international locations and collaborates with 10+ multinational suppliers. They are dedicated to excellence, blending innovation and efficiency in their processes for supplying, distributing, and transporting products.

As a Technical Superintendent/Chief Engineer, you will manage maritime operations, ensuring vessel efficiency, safety, and compliance. Responsibilities include overseeing maintenance programs, regulatory adherence, and collaboration with stakeholders. This role requires occasional travel if there are any ship inspections required in countries. The potential candidates should carry Chief engineer level of competency, someone who has worked with bulk carriers

Responsibilities:

  • Take care of the technical management and maintenance of the company's fleet.
  • Coordinate with ship managers onshore and onboard engineers for technical matters, troubleshooting shooting and compliance with all rules and regulations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and technical procedures.
  • To travel overseas and conduct ships inspections and audits to assess the condition of vessels and equipment in ports where ships stay for cargo operation.
  • Continuous monitoring of the technical performance of vessels machinery, their working hours, and periodical overhauling.
  • To manage the technical budgets.
  • To manage ships dry docking by linking with shipyards, suppliers, workshops, preparation of repair lists, and dry dock supplies in coordination with ships managers.
  • To monitor and manage all statutory and class surveys in coordination with ship managers
  • To monitor and maintain an accurate record of spare parts, stores, bunkers, chemicals, lube oil being supplied and consumed.
  • To travel overseas to inspect 2nd hand ships for purchase and prepare detailed reports to the board of directors.
  • To Travel to UAE on a periodical basis to attend company meetings, gatherings etc as instructed.

Qualifications:

  • Holding Chief Engineer certificate of competency as per STCW convention.
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience on board ocean-going ships as Chief Engineer
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience as a Technical Superintendent.
  • Strong knowledge of IMO regulations, ISM, Classification, and Statutory regulations
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in planned maintenance software and other technical tools
