A Day in the Life

The main purpose of this role is to manage, develop, coach and motivate the sales team to achieve the annual business objectives of Ireland Surgical. Ensure continuous development of the sales process. Develop and coach the team in economic value-based healthcare & understanding the clinical and non-clinical stakeholder matrix. Coordinate the team to maximize account conversions and protect & grow existing customers to achieve all business objectives – financial & behavioral and to bring our mission to life within the team. The Surgical Operating Unit consists of 3 Focus Areas - Advanced Surgical Technologies (AST), Operating Room Essentials (ORE) and Hernia Care. The role reports to the Senior Business Unit Director, UK&IRE and sits on the Surgical UK&I leadership team.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Ensuring that the team will sell the full range of surgical products in assigned territories in a professional manner to hospitals and related healthcare professionals as well as being responsible for the management of quality and consistency of product and service delivery.
  • Maximising product market share growth and profitability through achieving targets within the assigned region and assigned team.
  • Making sure that the team develop new growth market share gain opportunities, have healthy product pipelines, and display strong protect and secure strategies.
  • Preparing the annual budget for the relevant structure and ensure its respected during the year.
  • Organizing the sales force in the most effective and efficient way in order to ensure the achievement of defined objectives.
  • Managing, developing and motivating all employees within your team. Ensuring that all sales representatives within the business unit are coached in the most effective way.
  • Promoting an effective communication flow within your team. Ensure that all the necessary information (commercial and non-commercial) are properly transferred to the sales force.
  • Ensuring that the annual performance appraisal process takes place and the hiring of skilled and talented personnel.
  • Identifying and resolve client concerns when the team require high level of decision making.


Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Direct people management and a track record of personal and people development
  • Strong business acumen as well as organizational and cross functional business agility
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in sales
  • Proven track record in account management, selling to procurement level customers, as well as product launch, territory planning and forecasting experience
  • Advanced presentation and negotiation skills
  • Strong ability to spot business opportunities and to persuade and influence others internally and externally
  • A full Driving Licence


Previous experience of medical device sales is preferable.
