We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Group Medical Education Manager within the Neuromodulation (NM) Operating Unit. The Sr. Manager will lead the Pain Interventions Education Strategy, inclusive of strong engagement with key local key opinion leaders and faculty, which is a foundational pillar to this role.

The Sr. Manager of Medical Education will lead a team to create and execute a comprehensive a peer-to-peer healthcare provider strategy to drive product adoption across Pain Interventions. This position requires close collaboration and working alignment with commercial and marketing teams for program prioritization and implementation; and direct partnership with the Sr. Director Medical Education of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and the NM Director of International Education for NM Education and Engagement opportunities. This position will partner with Faculty, business leaders and medical education/sales training cross-functional partners to set the education strategy, implement new education practices with expertise while leading a team of education specialists. Serves as an expert in designing global, national and local educational programs and raises the bar by creating and implementing new strategies and educational programs to help drive procedural adoption through safe & effective use of training.

This is a high travel role with up to 75% of time being spent traveling.

This role is remote with the US, but preference is located in/near Minneapolis, MN.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive medical education programs tailored to healthcare providers, including physicians, surgeons, and providers, to ensure a thorough understanding of Pain Interventions products and therapies that may include, but is not limited to, Spinal Cord Stimulation, Targeted Drug Delivery, Balloon Kyphoplasty, Emprint liver ablation and OsteoCool RF ablation.
    • Plans, develops, and coordinates in-house product training programs for field support personnel and customers.
    • Obtains information needed to prepare in-house training programs; prepares training materials; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids.
    • Ensures training program(s) meets company and customer objectives.
    • Maintains communication with customers to ensure effectiveness of training.
    • May utilize trainers with technical expertise.
    • Continuously revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Strategy, R&D, Marketing, Sales, and Clinical Medical Affairs, to align medical education initiatives with commercial objectives and clinical strategies.
  • Design and deliver engaging and informative training materials, presentations, and workshops to healthcare professionals, leveraging best practices and innovative instructional techniques.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders and medical experts within the Pain and Interventional communities to support peer-to-peer education efforts and drive thought leadership and enhanced engagement.
  • Conduct needs assessments and market analysis to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and refinement of medical education programs, ensuring relevance and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs leading our Veeva Promotional Materials systems and Compliance teams to ensure all medical education activities adhere to industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Works closely with the Clinical organization, Sr. Director of Education and VP NM Society, Education, & HCP Services education to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of medical education initiatives through compliant impact and KPIs, making data-driven recommendations for optimization and enhancement.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7 years of relevant experience in medical education, healthcare training, or related roles with 5+ years of people or program managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of people or program managerial experience.


Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field preferred (e.g., MBA, MPH, Healthcare Education)
  • Medical Device Industry experience preferred
  • Excellent skills in application of the ADDIE model for instructor led and virtual training
  • 5+ years of experience working with Neurosurgeons, Interventional Radiology, Orthopedic Surgery, Pain Medicine, Neurosurgery, Endocrinology or other physicians.
  • Experience with design, delivery, and evaluation of education across various digital and virtual platforms
  • Instructional design experience

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$140,000.00 - $210,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
