As Corporate Counsel and a member of the Legal team, you’ll support all aspects of Anthology’s business operations globally, with an emphasis on employment and compliance matters. This position includes regularly working with Anthology’s Compliance Officer and across internal corporate functions with Anthology’s Human Resources team. The Legal team is committed to excellence and works as a trusted partner to business units across the company.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing guidance on day-to-day employment matters relevant to a global technology company, including supporting employee populations in the United States, India, Colombia, and Czech Republic
- Drafting and reviewing offer letters, confidentiality agreements, employee handbooks, benefit plans, bonus and compensation plans, and other corporate policies
- Maintaining a repository of global, federal and state rules relating to various employment and compliance matters, including background checks, overtime rules, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, leave policies, benefit plans, workplace harassment, bribery and corruption, and conflict of interests
- Serving as the day-to-day Legal team liaison to the Human Resources team
- Evaluating and serving as a subject-matter expert on emerging employment trends and best practices
- Assisting in the review, drafting, and negotiation of provisions in customer, partner and vendor contracts as they relate to employment matters and corporate compliance programs
- Conducting and advising on company audits, investigations, and assessments
- Managing outside counsel with respect to litigation and other formal disputes concerning employment-related matters
- Supporting M&A initiatives, including due diligence, as they relate to employment and compliance matters
- Managing and keeping up to date the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and Anthology’s compliance policies
- Planning, maintaining and tracking the compliance training and awareness program including the roll-out and tracking of the annual compliance training
- Advising on and tracking of conflicts of interests and political contributions
- Conducting regular compliance risk assessments in coordination with relevant internal stakeholders
- Supporting the Compliance Officer with respect to other aspects of the corporate compliance program, including administration of the Compliance Committee
- Supporting and guiding the development and delivery of educational programs and training relating to corporate best practices and compliance with laws and regulations
The Candidate:
Required skills/qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the U.S.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a law firm and/or in-house with a focus on employment law
- Experience with multi-national companies
- Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills with the ability to support a human resources team
- Ability to provide legal advice clearly and confidently, have strong instincts, and the ability to quickly win confidence and trust
- Ability to multitask with great attention to detail and a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines within a changing, fast-paced environment
- Customer service focused attitude
- Team player with the ability to work with all levels of the organization
- Ability to foster good business relationships (internally and externally)
- Fluency in written and spoken English
Preferred skills/qualifications:
- In-house legal experience with a technology company
- Compliance experience with a global organization
- Knowledge of accessibility laws and regulations as they pertain to SaaS offerings
Pay range is $149,700 - $170,000/year depending upon experience. We use national and industry-specific survey data to assist in determining compensation. Additionally, we consider factors such as external market rate, budget for the role, and the compensation rates of current employees performing the same function. Some roles will have variable pay.
