The opportunity:

The Electronics Function in Edinburgh is looking for a dynamic individual who can undertake a Lead Firmware Engineer role to undertake development of complex Firmware designs for Radars and Electro Optics Groups. Candidates are expected to have a degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering with a specialism in FPGA techniques.

What you’ll do as a Lead Firmware Engineer:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of firmware designs, managing development activities through the project and engineering lifecycles and delivering the final solution. The candidate will provide technical guidance for current and emerging FPGA design and verification techniques including VHDL, SystemVerilog and UVM.

What we need from you:

This role is mainly an office-based role using display screen equipment and there will be occasional work in development labs and in production environments. Depending on project security aspects, there may be an opportunity for remote working.

Working to tight deadlines either on a regular or ad hoc basis will be required.

Occasionally travel within the UK and overseas with overnight stay may be required.
