The Opportunity:

At Leonardo, we have a fantastic new opportunity a for Systems Engineer to join our team within the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) line of business. The CS3 line of business operates across the UK, providing innovative and invaluable support solutions to our customers. We help to ensure the availability of front-line capability wherever and whenever required.

This role will be part of the Blue Kestrel Radar Support team to provide engineering support on the Blue Kestrel Radar. This will be mainly an office based role with opportunities for remote working as required. The successful candidate will have to work in Radar labs, production areas and occasionally in a clean room environment.

What you will do as a Systems Engineer:

  • Be the main point of contact and engineering coordinator for all Blue Kestrel project engineering activities.
  • Coordinate engineering life cycle management activities and annual design review packs
  • Ensure all relevant engineering plans are maintained and up to date (Engineering, Obsolescence, Configuration and Quality Plans) by liaising with relevant functions as required.
  • Coordinate and maintain the team engineering action register.
  • Coordinate and progress:
    • Customer engineering queries
    • Engineering tasks
    • Repair scheduling, material and resourcing
    • Support the manufacturing and supply chain on technical issues
    • Support module support activities
    • Track project equipment location, availability and calibration
  • Ensure contractual equipment and stock appendices for customer assets are monitored and annual visual stock checks are carried out and recorded.
  • Ensure relevant technical documents are kept up to date.
  • Update the weekly SOFT (Successes, Opportunities, Failures, Threats) report
  • Maintain project knowledge documentation.

We would like to hear from you if you have a combination of the following:

  • HND or Degree educated (or suitable experience) in a science based subject e.g. Electronic Engineering, Physics.
  • A team player possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills and knowledge
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to drive and support continuous improvement

Ability to:

  • Work under broad direction, with minimal supervision, in challenging technical environments.
  • Manage workload in pressurised environments, across multiple tasks, ensuring a quality output to meet the customer demands.
  • Multi-task and work across several activities at once

It would be desirable if you had:

  • Experience of both main and test equipment design and support
  • Previous Radar system experience
  • Knowledge of analogue electronics, digital electronics and RF
