Remote Java Developer - Salt Lake City (Utah) | WFH

Job Overview

We are in search of a skilled and committed Senior Java Developer to join our vibrant team within the Division of Population Health Informatics Program. In this full-time position, you will be instrumental in crafting cutting-edge Java web applications and web services that cater to both the public and internal staff. This project is projected to run through December 2026, with possibilities for extension contingent on funding and emerging project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a diverse group of application developers, engineers, and subject matter experts to design new applications and transition legacy systems.
• Develop high-quality Java web applications leveraging frameworks, particularly focusing on EJB and JSF.
• Implement secure authentication mechanisms for external users and systems by utilizing standards like OATH2 or OpenAM.
• Employ PostgreSQL for data storage and efficient querying within web applications and APIs.
• Enhance existing Java web applications to improve functionality and fulfill user needs.
• Assist in establishing continuous integration and delivery pipelines using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Uphold agency data security standards and apply approved data encryption methodologies.
• Exhibit the ability to work independently in a remote setting while managing time effectively. Onsite work may be required as necessary.
  
  

Required Skills

• Proficiency in Java Core, Java EE (JEE), Java Persistence API (JPA), and Java Persistence Query Language (JPQL).
• Extensive experience with Java Server Faces (JSF) and PrimeFaces.
• Strong background in PostgreSQL SQL and PL/pgSQL.
• Understanding of development practices in Cloud environments, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Demonstrated experience in developing Java RESTful Web Services.
• Familiarity with WCAG compatibility standards and their application.
  
  

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Java Core, Java EE (JEE), Java Persistence API (JPA), and JPQL.
• At least 5 years of experience with Java Server Faces (JSF) and PrimeFaces.
• 3-5 years of experience with PostgreSQL SQL and PL/pgSQL.
• 5 years of experience with Cloud development, particularly AWS.
• 5 years of hands-on experience in developing Java RESTful Web Services.
• Knowledge of WCAG compatibility standards and their implementation.
