Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a
Senior Data Scientist to join our team. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for building enterprise-scale, cloud-native, AI systems that leverage state-of-the-art data science practices.
The Sr Data Scientist will work collaboratively with peers to design AI/ML models, algorithms, and experiments that will drive business value. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the current AI landscape. This will include demonstrated experience leveraging and fine-tuning Large Language Models, developing solutions using NLP and other Deep Learning techniques, as well as contributing toward building an End-to-End machine learning life cycle.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and implement data science strategies and projects to drive business growth and optimization
- Participate in the design, development, and deployment of cloud-native data solutions that enable efficient and scalable AI/ML solutions
- Lead specific initiatives within the team to identify, prioritize, and address critical needs, challenges, and opportunities
- Assist with model research and options analysis to prepare a solution recommendation balancing tradeoffs as well as short term versus long goals
- Provide comprehensive feedback in design reviews, code reviews, and data analysis
- Contribute to the end-to-end data science process from data acquisition to model training and testing to deployment
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of data models by applying machine learning best practice, conducting thorough testing, and continuously monitoring performance to correct any inaccuracies
What You’ll Need To Succeed
Your experience should include some or all of the following:
- 5+ years of experience in data science roles of increasing complexity
- Experience in developing and deploying scalable machine learning models using Python or other related programming languages
- Experience optimizing Natural Language Processing and/or Computer Vision models for specialized tasks
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as Tensorflow, Keras, or PyTorch
- Demonstrated experience supporting all phases of an AI/ML model’s lifecycle
- Demonstrated experience in cloud-native technologies, including cloud computing, distributed computing, data warehousing, and big data processing
- Proven track record of effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data solutions
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal guidance, and balance multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to derive effective solutions to complex data challenges
- Degree in computer science, statistics, data science, or a related field
