Job Description

Tax Manager (North) – AARTS (Audit and Accounting Related Tax Services)

Base Location: Leeds is the main hub however we are open to regional candidates as well.

What will you be doing?

  • Acting as the tax specialist in audit and tax reporting engagements, leading teams on a wide variety of clients in the National Markets portfolio, listed and large private companies;
  • leading by example in preparing and reviewing audit documentation, ensuring you are up to date with current requirements;
  • Acting as key intermediary between audit and tax department, assisting with scoping and delivery of audits by managing specialist input, e.g. transfer pricing;
  • Developing and maintaining client relationships across a portfolio of clients;
  • Developing and maintaining internal relationships with the audit teams, and other departments;
  • Acting as a specialist in the tax department, assisting colleagues with technical tax accounting queries on tax reporting and compliance engagements and undertaking specialist tax advisory work such as GAAP conversion projects;
  • Mentoring and developing of junior members of staff;
  • Keep up to date and share technical insights with rest of AARTS team.


What will you need to do it?

  • ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified;
  • experience of tax reporting requirements (IFRS and FRS102), compliance and good understanding of the UK tax regime;
  • working knowledge of US GAAP (desirable but not required);
  • Project management/co-ordination skills and experience;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Communicates with impact, in a way that is open, honest, consistent and clear;
  • Takes personal responsibility and accountability for own work. Sustains a high level of drive, shows enthusiasm and a positive attitude when coping with pressure at work;
  • Analyses problems, identifies core issues, investigates, evaluates and integrates information;
  • Builds the reputation of KPMG through the quality of work, knowledge, and experience


Skills we’d love to see/Amazing Extras:

  • Accounting concepts
  • Awareness of tax compliance / tax reporting
  • Financial Reporting IFRS /UKGAAP/USGAAP

  • Some audit – or solid audit people with limited tax knowledge
