Job description

This is a remote (work from home) seasonal position for the upcoming tax season (January - April 2025). 

For over 88 years, we have worked to create trusting relationships with our fire family. The bonds we build are the foundation of our credit union. As the largest, exclusive firefighter credit union in the nation with over $2.0B in assets, we serve over 50,000 members in more than 1,000 fire departments. 


Currently, we have an immediate opening for a Tax Preparation Assistant to join our team! The Tax Preparation Assistant will provide assistance to the tax preparation staff to ensure clients have a seamless experience.  The Tax Preparation Assistant will take phone calls, intake new clients, assist following-up with existing clients and maintain filing records. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a keen eye for detail, with a commitment to providing excellent service to clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Answering phones calls and responding to general tax office questions.
  • Managing client database and tax return statuses using workflow software (Tax Dome).
  • Organizing and analyzing financial information to support tax preparation.
  • Contacting clients via phone or e-mail regarding updates, deadlines, and required information to prepare their return quickly and efficiently.
  • Maintaining an organized electronic filing cabinet, ensuring correct file types naming conventions and locations.
  • Overseeing electronic filing submissions and acknowledgements for state and federal tax returns.
  • Communicating client progress with internal management and assisting with special projects related to office administration.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED 
  • Previous experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
