Job Summary: 

 

As a key member of our project team, the Training Developer supports the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) by managing the end-to-end training development lifecycle. This vital role involves crafting, delivering, and refining educational content tailored to a diverse audience, ensuring clarity, impact, and adherence to brand standards and regulatory guidelines. The Training Developer is responsible for enhancing CMS's educational initiatives through meticulous content creation, collaborative stakeholder engagement, and the continual elevation of training material quality. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

The Training Developer is instrumental in managing the full spectrum of the training lifecycle, from conceptualizing and crafting engaging content to assessing its impact. This role requires close collaboration with subject matter experts and stakeholders to deliver tailored educational experiences. Furthermore, it involves the continuous improvement of training processes and materials to align with CMS's strategic objectives. Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Oversee the full Quarterly Training development lifecycle, including ideation, content development, delivery, evaluation, and maintenance. 
  • Determine the most effective presentation and organization of content based on audience needs. 
  • Develop and edit training content and materials across various platforms such as PowerPoint and Confluence pages. 
  • Conduct comprehensive research to procure content and validate its accuracy. 
  • Generate and fine-tune presentation scripts and deliver training sessions when necessary. 
  • Liaise with SMEs to arrange planning discussions, interviews, and content validations. 
  • Ensure all materials are compliant with branding and template use requirements. 
  • Create promotional materials including Slack posts, emails, and talking points. 
  • Analyze feedback and training materials for potential improvements and updates. 
  • Participate in strategic planning and status meetings. 
  • Oversee the Section 508 remediation process. 
  • Fulfill ad-hoc responsibilities as they arise. 


Requirements
Minimum Qualifications/Experience: 
  • 4-6 years of demonstrated experience in instructional design. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with acute attention to detail. 
  • Competency in distilling complex information for diverse stakeholder groups. 
  • Aptitude for working collaboratively within dynamic teams and with clients. 
  • Committed to meeting deadlines and adept at managing multiple priorities. 
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders and senior SMEs constructively. 
  • Proficiency with Atlassian products, JIRA, Confluence, and Slack. 
  • Developed critical thinking and analytical skills. 
  • Experience within a tech-focused work environment is preferred. 
  • Eligible for security clearance. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Exceptional facilitation and consulting abilities. 
  • Strong leadership, analysis, and data gathering skillset. 
  • Outstanding organizational competencies. 
  • Familiarity with the systems development lifecycle, Agile or Scrum methodologies. 
  • Knowledge of State Health Insurance Marketplaces is an asset. 
  • Previous experience with the Department of Health & Human Services/Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will be considered favorably. 

Minimum Education: 

 

  • Bachelor’s (BA or BS) degree from an accredited institution. 

 

Required Certifications: 

  • Certifications are not specified for this position; however, certifications in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field are beneficial.
