Summary Of Job Duties
A Biomedical Equipment Technician I is entry-level position in Healthcare Technology Management (HTM). Duties include substantial preventive maintenance and safety testing. Will make repairs on lesser sophisticated clinical medical equipment with little or no supervision and will make repairs on highly sophisticated clinical medical equipment under relatively close supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Biomedical Instrumentation Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology Electronics or related field, with 2 years of related experience -OR- High School Diploma/GED with 4 years experience working in a hospital or other healthcare environment -OR- Equivalent Military Training
  • Knowledge of electronic or mechanical equipment repair.  Ability to exercise strong decision making skills, work unsupervised and follow proper safety protocol
  • Must be team oriented and customer service oriented.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written or spoken instructions.
  • Ability to document accurately and work in operating rooms or restricted areas of the campus.
  • Considerable knowledge of current regulatory requirements.
  • Substantial Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology as applied to use of biomedical equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, diagrams, and medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of application and repair of computers and servers and how they interface with medical equipment
  • Basic knowledge of networking theory.
