Job Description

Job Summary: The Director of Compliance ensures the company and its Team Members adhere to applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and licensing requirements. This position develops and implements policies, procedures, and training to ensure compliance standards are achieved company-wide.

This position reports out of the Sacramento Corporate Office but is offered as hybrid-remote or remote depending on experience and location.

The salary offered is dependent on location and experience but ranges from $80,000 to $150,000.

Top 3 Responsibilities and how you will be measured:

1. Regulatory Compliance

Measurement: Communicate compliance risks and issues to General Counsel and executive management; prepare and update policies and procedures aimed at reducing compliance risks and guidance in accordance with established timeframes and established plans.

2. Manage Compliance Systems

Measurement: Regularly evaluate the functioning of compliance systems to ensure strong utilization and adherence.

3. Manage /Support all Team Members in the Compliance

Measurement:  Develop and maintain current action plans, manage projects and goals, implement process flows, and cross train Team Members on new compliance skills.

Essential Duties of the Position:

  • Ensure adherence to all State and Federal regulations company-wide.
  • Effectively communicate compliance requirements company-wide to ensure awareness of state and federal requirements.
  • Maintain State and Federal Licensing Requirements.
  • Oversee, schedule and administer periodic internal audits to ensure adherence to State and Federal regulations.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement company policies and procedures to ensure adherence to all State and Federal regulations and reduce risk.
  • Coordinate with the Training Department to develop training programs that educate team members on new, existing, and updated laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Identify and investigate potential branch compliance issues.
  • Assess operational risk at the branch level and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Communicate branch compliance issues and risks to General Counsel.
  • Assist in creating and implementing branch policies, procedures, and programs to reduce compliance risk.
  • Identify compliance systems in need of improvement to facilitate the ease of adoption.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of current or recent (within the last 12 months) experience in a compliance role with a retail mortgage lender, at least 3 years within a supervisory role.
  • Thorough knowledge of HMDA, ECOA, Regulation Z, TILA, TRID, RESPA, and Fair Lending Laws
  • Current or recent Encompass Experience required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from various backgrounds and at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage team members.
  • Ability to travel to Branches, Satellites, and other remote locations to carry out the position's essential duties.
