The Corporate Counsel is responsible for assisting the General Counsel with litigation, contract review, marketing material review, advising on human resource, loss mitigation, title, regulatory compliance, and servicing issues. This is an exempt position and falls under the direct supervision of the General Counsel.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Review legal blogs, remain abreast with legal changes, court opinions, and pass on to interested parties
  • Prep, consult, advise regarding cyber incident response and/or PII exposure. 
  • Assist in advising the company with its BCDR efforts
  • Confer, revise as well as draft amendments and suggestions to Marketing on all published marketing materials
  • Confer, revise as well as draft amendments and suggestions to Training on all company-wide training materials
  • Draft, review and prep various organizational policies and procedures
  • Confer/advise Reverse Department regarding outside counsel and attorney opinion that family trust satisfies investor requirements
  • Receive and research, prep pleadings in new cases regarding Plaza Home Mortgage
  • Manage applications and work product that go to investor, for due diligence
  • Respond to counsel’s questions regarding discovery in RFCs, receive and forward Request to Admit, proposed by outside counsel
  • Confer with Human Resources on various employee issues, leave and conduct issues
  • Assist with corporate governance and Board of Directors related compliance
  • Assist General Counsel on litigation matters, insurance claims
  • Draft demand letters to Title Agents/Settlement Agents requesting outstanding documentation
  • Draft, review and revise contracts of all types
  • Prep settlement demand for open cases and newly introduced cases
  • Support the business owners on a variety of legal matters

  • Education/Experience
  • Juris Doctor degree required
  • Minimum 5-7 years of practical experience; in-house counsel experience a plus
