Job Description

Flight Operations Engineering manage and analyze the aircraft performance and provides technical support to the Flight Operations for procedures and policies in order to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. They analyze operational data and implement new tools that improve the flight operations efficiency. They manage aircraft database and maintain existing tools to ensure flight safety.

  • Manages the design, development and analysis aspect of aircraft performance and weight & balance data, including the policies, standards and related procedures to meet regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Maintains the aircraft performance and weight & balance calculation software
  • Performs technical reviews of airport analysis and aircraft engine out procedures.
  • Performs technical reviews of aircraft enroute driftdown and depressurisation procedures.
  • Performs route studies to support the planning of the commercial network.
  • Monitors the fuel consumption of aircraft and calculate the performance factor used for flight planning purposes.
  • Explores new fuel efficiency initiatives and monitor the existing initiatives through flight data analysis.
  • Participates in the elaboration of procedures that will improve the fuel efficiency.
  • Supports the electronic flight bag system administration, including the hardware and software management.  
  • Maintains the navigation database content and the navigation charts coverage
  • Manages technical projects and areas of responsibilities as directed by the Chief, Flight Operations Engineer.
  • Communicates with suppliers concerning performance, weight & balance, fuel efficiency and related tools.
  • Monitors evolving technologies for performance, weight & balance and fuel efficiency.
  • Provides expert technical consultation and training to flight operation and other services, as required, in matters involving aircraft performance, weight & balance, fuel efficiency and other related topics.
  • Develops methodologies, tools and database to continuously improve the flight operations safety and efficiency.
  • Develops and provide training concerning aircraft performance, weight & balance, electronic flight folder or any other related topic.

Qualifications

- University Diploma in Mechanical / Aeronautical Engineering OR having 5 years of technical experience in the industry (i.e. mechanical technician or avionic technician)

- Experience in the aerospace industry or  airline operation are assets;

- Strong conceptual, analytical and planning skills;

- Knowledge of the flight mechanics, aerodynamics and aircraft performance.

- Sound computer skills, including programming knowledge;

- Pilot license is an asset (PPL or CPL).

- Self-starter, adaptable, team oriented;

- Oral and written fluency in French and English *

 

*A good knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec. The incumbent will be required to communicate and collaborate frequently in English, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders in Quebec, the rest of Canada, and internationally.
